Flamengo's second goal against Nova Iguaçu, in the first leg of the Campeonato Carioca final, represented a historic feat for the club. The goal scored by Pedro seven minutes into the second half was the 13,000th goal in Flamengo's 112-year football history.
Flamengo is the first Brazilian club to reach the milestone. Until the 12 thousandth goal, the leader in this statistic was Santos, who reached the mark in 2014, two years before Flamengo. Interestingly, the person who scored the 12,000th goal for Santos is the one who helped Flamengo the most to reach the 13,000th goal: Gabigol, who scored 155 of Flamengo's last thousand goals.
Mais Querido currently has 65 goals ahead of Santos in the historical count. The São Paulo club, already a football team, was founded in April 1912, a month before the first match in Flamengo's history. Flamengo arrived for this Saturday's match with 12,998 goals scored since 1912. With two goals from Pedro, they reached the round mark of 13 thousand.
O Mais Querido adopted officially the count made by the website Fla Statistics, which recently reviewed the accounts of the club's 12,000th goal. At the time of the feat, in 2016, Leandro Damião was honored as the scorer in the game against Grêmio, but the new account shows that the one who scored the 12 thousandth goal was Marcelo Cirino, in the following match, against Figueirense. p>
Flamengo needed 6,593 matches to reach 13,000 goals, that is, an average of almost two goals per match. There are 7,229 goals conceded, that is, a positive balance of 5,771.
Even with strong competition in the offensive sector, the striker remains in the squad and gains support from the coach, who highlighted the winger's dedication and talent.

Flamengo remains active in the transfer market and has already presented important reinforcements for the season, with the objective of maintaining the squad at a high level and fighting for titles in 2025. Despite the signings, the board continues to evaluate opportunities , both for the arrival of new names and for possible departures.
Among the recent decisions is the permanence of Everton Cebolinha . The striker, who had been speculated to be leaving the club due to the fierce competition for a position, will remain in the squad at the decision of coach Filipe Luís , who expressed confidence in the player.
In the 1-0 victory over Atlético-MG in the Copa Betano do Brasil, Cebolinha scored the game's winning goal, despite the team's elimination on penalties. His performance earned praise from the club's manager at a press conference:
"Cebolinha, I'm very happy for him. He's a player who works hard and has a lot of talent and still a lot of football to give . He had a great game, and it wasn't easy for him on the synthetic pitch, a player who had an Achilles tendon injury."
While Cebolinha remains, another striker may be on his way out. Winger Michael is awaiting offers from Saudi Arabia and is open to negotiations. Flamengo 's board is evaluating financially advantageous proposals to release the player.
Mengão signed four players in the second opening of negotiations of the season and values reached an unprecedented mark for the club.

Flamengo entered the second transfer window of 2025 eager to strengthen its squad and spared no expense. After the sales of Gerson and Wesley, the club opened its coffers and invested heavily in signing four big names, totaling R$277.127 million, the club's largest ever transfer window spend. This information comes from GE.
The CBF implemented the transfer window system starting in 2022, and since then, the previous record belonged to the first transfer window in 2024, when Flamengo spent just over R$160 million . Now, that mark has been practically doubled.
Although the official calculation only takes into account the transfer window era, GE also reported spending since 2019—the year the club began investing more aggressively. In 2019, approximately R$185 million was spent on signings. In 2020, the highlight was the outright purchase of Gabriel Barbosa, for over R$90 million, totaling approximately R$170 million for the season . Even so, all these figures are far from the R$277 million disbursed now.
The investment nearly reached R$300 million and was directed at high-profile European football players, especially after president Luiz Eduardo Baptista (BAP) vetoed the signing of Mikey Johnston from West Bromwich. From then on, football director José Boto shifted focus and brought in more renowned names , signing Saúl, Emerson Royal, Samuel Lino, and Jorge Carrascal .
Colombian Carrascal , the latest addition to the squad, has already been registered and could make his debut on Saturday against Mirassol in the Brasileirão. Filipe Luís is expected to include him in the squad for the first time, as he wasn't registered in time for the Copa do Brasil round of 16 , but he's also cleared to play in the Libertadores. The reported figures do not include bonuses or commissions, and contractual bonuses are only included if targets are met.
