"This competition was already decided a long time ago, he (Raphinha) was perhaps lucky that the only World Cup he played in was right in the middle of the season, when FIFA messed up the football calendar worldwide. If he had played in the World Cup during his vacation period, he wouldn't have made that statement. You just can't say one thing today and say something else a year from now," said Zico.
Raphinha's statement was made during his participation in a sporting event in São Paulo this Friday (27). The player is on vacation, as Barcelona is not competing in the new world tournament organized by FIFA, the highest football authority.
This Sunday (29), Flamengo faces Bayern Munich, from Germany, in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup, in Miami, United States. After drawing with Los Angeles FC, Mengão wants to return to winning ways in the North American country. In the last five matches of the season, Flamengo has four wins and one draw. Bayern Munich has four wins and one loss.
