According to the 'GE' portal, the Portland Timbers (USA) submitted an $8 million offer (approximately R$44.6 million) for Wesley, a key player in coach Roger Machado's scheme. The offer, however, was promptly rejected by the Colorado board.
The reason for Internacional's refusal is the composition of the player's economic rights. The Rio Grande do Sul club holds only 50% of Wesley's transfer rights, with the other half belonging to Palmeiras. Therefore, in a deal worth US$8 million, Internacional would receive only US$4 million (approximately R$22.3 million). Behind the scenes, reports suggest that Internacional would only open negotiations if the amount offered for their percentage reached US$8 million.
This isn't the first time Wesley has attracted interest from foreign clubs. In June, América-MEX had already inquired about the striker's situation, but negotiations failed.
