Flamengo will make its debut at Campeonato Carioca 2025 this Sunday (12), facing the Boavista for the first round of the Guanabara Cup. The match will be held at Batistão Stadium, in Aracaju (SE), starting at 4pm (Brasília time). The game will be broadcast live on the channels Band, GOAT (via YouTube) and Premiere.
The choice of Estádio Batistão as the venue for the confrontation is unprecedented, making the duel even more special for the local public. Tickets, which cost between R$50 and R$150, were quickly sold out, demonstrating the fans' great interest in watching Mengão up close.
Mais Querido's record against Boavista is largely favorable. In 22 matches, Flamengo won 17 times, suffered only one defeat and drew four occasions. Despite the historical advantage, Boavista relies on the experience of its players to try to surprise Rubro-Negro.

REFERENCE AND CLIMATE PROMISE A GAME DYNAMIC
The arbitration team will be led by Alex Gomes Stefano, with assistance from Luiz Cláudio Regazone and Hugo Filemon Soares Chick. The weather conditions forecast for Aracaju include partly cloudy skies and temperatures around 28°C, which should favor a dynamic and balanced game.
FLAMENGO USES ALTERNATIVE TEAM IN THE FIRST ROUNDS
Due to preparations for friendlies in the United States, Flamengo opted to field an alternative team in the first four rounds of the Carioca Championship. Coach Cléber dos Santos should take advantage of the opportunity to give rhythm to the young talents at the base, such asCarlinhos and Lorran. In addition, some experienced names from the main cast, such as Pablo, will also be available to strengthen the group.
This strategy is part of the technical committee's planning to preserve the main players in the squad before the most important competitions of the season. Even so, Rubro-Negro arrives with strength to seek its 39th state title.
The player managed to increase his production this season and gained the trust of Filipe Luís and the coaching staff to stay for another two years.

Wesley's departure paved the way for Guillermo Varela to take over as Flamengo's starting right-back. Despite Emerson Royal's arrival, the new signing is still struggling to adapt and find his rhythm, giving the Uruguayan a chance to establish himself in the position.
Starting in the Copa do Brasil match against Atlético-MG, the full-back performed consistently both defensively and offensively , despite the team's penalty shootout. He didn't play in the previous match against Ceará in the Campeonato Brasileiro , giving way to Royal, who isn't yet fully fit. While the newly signed player seeks to establish himself, the veteran remains in the running for a starting spot.
Besides competing on the field, Varela is also experiencing a significant moment off it. The full-back's contract with the club runs until the end of 2025 and, starting mid-next year , could sign a pre-contract with another team. However, his desire is to remain at Mengão.
Negotiations for the renewal began in March and have always been positive. According to information gathered by Gazeta do Urubu , the final details of the new contract have already been finalized. The official announcement is expected in the coming days, after adjustments to the player's requested amount.
Throughout the season, Varela stood out for his versatility. Besides performing well at right back, he also played on the left when coach Filipe Luís needed to cover for absences . At specific moments, he even played as a defensive midfielder, a position for which he also received praise. This versatility was one of the factors that influenced the board to move forward with the renewal.
