Although Flamengo fans are dreaming of winning the World Cup twice , technical director José Boto tried to keep things calm. In an interview with the newspaper O Globo, where he also spoke about market measures , the Portuguese director was direct in stating that the club cannot see itself as a favorite against the European powers — especially considering the financial gap between the teams.

“The priority is the Brazilian Championship and the Libertadores. We cannot be boastful, arrogant and even ridiculous in the eyes of Europeans when they hear this kind of thing, thinking that we have an obligation to arrive and win the World Cup ,” said Boto.
Despite the caution, the manager reinforced the team's commitment to competing on equal terms in the tournament, making it clear that Flamengo will go with full strength. “Another thing is that we go — and we will — to compete, knowing how difficult it is to face European teams, who play at a faster pace than we do here. We will face it head on, get through the group stage and see what happens . We will have enough rest time, we will not hold back in the World Cup,” he added.
During the week, Boto gave a practical example of the difference in investment between clubs. According to him, Benfica, from Portugal, has three forwards valued at 20 million euros each (around R$128 million). At Flamengo, only two players have exceeded this mark: Arrascaeta (R$135 million) and Pedro (R$133 million), considering monetary correction.
Although Carlos Alcaraz was the most expensive signing in the club's history in euros, the Argentine still lags behind, in adjusted terms , the amounts invested by Arrascaeta and Pedro. Both the midfielder and the forward remain at Mais Querido.
Flamengo's journey in the FIFA Club World Cup begins this Monday (16), at 10 pm (Brasília time), against Espérance de Tunis , in Philadelphia. The team will also face Chelsea (20/06) and Los Angeles FC (24/06) in Group D. The initial goal is clear: to advance to the next phase.

Flamengo's transfer window isn't over yet . Football director José Boto is still searching for two specific reinforcements to further strengthen Filipe Luís's squad . The club has already signed five players, but the board believes there are still gaps to be filled.
The main movement continues to be for Fiorentina striker Lucas Beltrán . A deal with the Italian club is already in place, and now the only thing left to do is convince the player. The Argentine, who was initially reluctant about a return to South American football, is beginning to welcome the club's offer .
In addition to a striker, Flamengo is seeking another defender. The need has been evident in recent games. With Danilo injured, only Léo Ortiz and Léo Pereira remain as reliable options . Since Filipe Luís rarely uses the youngsters from the youth academy, the starting duo's fatigue has been noticeable—especially in the Copa do Brasil match against Atlético-MG, where their physical and mental fatigue was evident in the goal conceded. Although signing a defender is not considered a priority, the topic is being discussed internally, and José Boto is evaluating options on the market.

Although he was the first signing by Flamengo in this transfer window, midfielder Jorge Carrascal was the last to show up in Rio de Janeiro . According to the 'GE' portal, the last document signed by the Russian club arrived at Flamengo late in the afternoon of this Friday (1st). With that, the official announcement of the player will be made in the coming days, after the conclusion of pending procedures with Atlético-MG.
The reason for the delay was that Dynamo Moscow, his former club, took too long to complete the necessary paperwork for the transfer . The Russian team only released the Colombian after signing Rubens from Atlético-MG as a replacement.
At Dynamo's request, Flamengo will participate in the payment to Atlético-MG for Rubens' acquisition. Thus, a significant portion of the €12 million (R$77 million) invested by Carrascal will go to the Minas Gerais club.
Despite being in Rio since Wednesday, Carrascal has not yet been regularized with the CBF, which prevents him from playing in the next matches — against Ceará, this Sunday (3), for the Brasileirão, and against Atlético-MG, Wednesday (7), for the second leg of the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil. The registration deadlines for both matches have already expired.
The Colombian's debut is scheduled for August 9th against Mirassol at Maracanã, in the final round of the first half of the Brazilian Championship . Having been training regularly and playing for Dinamo, Carrascal is expected to be available to Filipe Luís as soon as he is officially confirmed. He has already passed the medical exams but will only be able to train with the club after being registered.
Alvinegro still owed Mengão for the signing of Matheuzinho, but managed to deposit a huge amount to close the matter.

Flamengo received, this Friday (1st), another millionaire amount related to the sale of right-back Matheuzinho. Corinthians paid around R$ 14 million to Rubro-Negro , paying off the remaining amount of the negotiation made in February of this year.
At the time, the Rio de Janeiro club sold the player for R$21.48 million, but Corinthians delayed the third installment of the agreement. As a result, Flamengo demanded immediate payment of the entire outstanding amount . The information was initially reported by the portal Meu Timão.
To facilitate the payment, Corinthians signed an agreement with Brax, the company responsible for marketing advertising signs for both clubs. The company acted as guarantor for the deal and transferred the funds to Flamengo .
By August, Corinthians had already paid R$8 million directly to the Rio de Janeiro club. It then transferred R$7.58 million to Brax , which topped up the amount with another R$6 million , fully settling the debt with the club.
While the board celebrates receiving the amount, Flamengo remains focused on the field. The team led by Filipe Luís returns to play this Sunday (3), against Ceará, at 6:30 pm (Brasília time), at Arena Castelão, for the 18th round of the Brasileirão. The match will be broadcast live on Premiere, on pay-per-view.
