Next Wednesday (27/11), at 10am, the Superior Court of Sports Justice for Football (STJD) will hold Atlético's trial , as a result of the episodes of violence that occurred during the final of the Brazilian Cup against Flamengo, at Arena MRV. The session will be at the 5th Disciplinary Commission, in Rio de Janeiro.
Galo was reported six times by the court prosecutor, including cases of throwing objects on the field, exploding bombs, attempting to invade fans, using lasers on the opposing goalkeeper and homophobic chants. The club could face severe penalties, such as the loss of up to ten field orders and fines exceeding R$1 million.
REPORTS OPEN THE WAY FOR SEVERE PENALTIES
The accusations are based on several articles of the Brazilian Code of Sports Justice (CBJD): Article 213 : Refers to the lack of measures to prevent disorders, invasions and throwing objects. The penalty includes fines between R$100 and R$100 thousand,as well as possible loss of field controls for up to ten games.
Article 211: Points out flaws in the MRV Arena infrastructure, which must guarantee safety and adequate conditions. Punishment may include a fine and stadium ban. Article 243-G: Related to discriminatory acts, providing for fines and entry bans for identified fans for at least 720 days. Furthermore, the right-back Saravia , sent off at the end of the match, will be judged for his conduct on the field, and may receive a suspension of up to three games.
ARENA MRV CLOSED AND GALO WITHOUT FANS
Since the incidents, the MRV Arena has remained closed, forcing Atlético to play at the Independência stadium, without the presence of their fans. The STJD's decision will be crucial in determining the club's future in the season, both in sporting and financial aspects.
