The president of Flamengo, Rodolfo Landim, spoke about the situation of striker Gabigol, suspended for two years for trying to cheat an anti-doping test. On the Maracanã lawn after Rubro-Negro won the Rio title, last Sunday (7), the president said that the club is hopeful of being able to reverse the situation of the number 10.
"We need to wait for the result of the Swiss Court. We are pleading for a suspensive effect on the punishment. We have positive expectations, but this is in their hands, who will judge. We hope for a favorable decision and that Gabi can be reinstated", said Landim. About the renewal with the red idol -negro, who only has a contract until December, the president avoided going deeper into the matter.
“It is impossible to define anything in relation to the renewal. We don't know what the punishment will be like. If it is suspended, there will have to be a new trial, which can happen anything. We are convinced that his right is good and we are confident that the punishment will be reversed”, he added.
Nas stands of Maracanã, banners and flags were displayed in honor of Gabigol , showing the fans' support for the red-and-black idol, whose contract with the club ends at the end of the year. Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. In the relationship between Gabigol and coach Tite at Flamengo, only the field is capable of speaking. Between the striker and coach, there is practically no dialogue, and the cold and silent war dictates that only one of them should remain at the club for the season in 2025.
