After Sesc Flamengo's defeat to Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde in the first game of the Women's Superliga quarterfinals, center Lorena analyzed the mistakes made by the team and highlighted points that need to be adjusted for the decisive match at Maracanãzinho. According to the player, the team had difficulties in defense and serving, which allowed the opponent to impose itself throughout the match.
"Our teamwork needs to improve in terms of defense. They used what they do best, which is attack, and we gave them a little freedom to let go and attack more. We also made a lot of mistakes, unlike what they were doing. We should have served a little better. We lost patience. For the next game, we have to work better on the defensive system, reduce the errors and be patient," assessed the middle blocker.
TEAM FACED DIFFICULTIES IN BLOCKADE
Sesc Flamengo started the match well and won the first set 25-22. However, in the following sets, the red-and-black team had difficulty holding off Osasco's attacks and saw their rival grow in the match. The lack of efficiency in blocking and defensive errors were decisive in the São Paulo team's comeback.
Lorena emphasized that the team needs to be more careful to prevent Osasco from using its main offensive weapons so freely. In addition, the center highlighted the importance of serving better to make it harder for the opponent to receive and balance the game.
LORENA ASKS FOR PATIENCE AND CONFIDENCE FOR THE TEAM TO RISE AGAINST THE SUPER LEAGUE
For the center, in addition to the technical adjustments, the emotional factor will be fundamental for Sesc RJ Flamengo to seek victory and take the decision to the third game. Lorena emphasized that the team needs to remain patient and have more balance in the decisive moments.
"We need to play more calmly, without rushing too much. We have a very strong group and we know our capabilities. The game at Maracanãzinho will be essential for us to show this and take the fight to the third game", concluded the player.
With the defeat in the first match, Mengão needs to win the return game to continue in the fight for a place in the Superliga semifinals. The second duel will be played this Wednesday (2), at 9 pm, at Maracanãzinho, and will be broadcast by SporTV2.
The Philadelphia 76ers center was at a shopping mall in Cabo Frio, in the Lakes Region of Rio de Janeiro, and made purchases of Mengão products.

Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid, MVP of the 2022/23 NBA season, once again demonstrated his affection for Flamengo . Last Thursday (21), the Cameroonian player was spotted in an official club store, in Cabo Frio (RJ) , where he made a point of purchasing several red-black products.
Although unusual, Embiid's presence in the Lakes Region has a reason. Married to Brazilian model Anne de Paula, the athlete often visits the city, where his father-in-law lives, during the holidays. This time, he took the opportunity to explore the "Nação Rubro-Negra" store and expand his Flamengo memorabilia collection.
The star's arrival took everyone by surprise and caused great excitement among the employees. Salesman Kauan said he was so nervous when he met the player that he forgot to remove the alarm from a piece of furniture, creating an unusual moment: " His father-in-law even joked with me afterward. It was an unforgettable experience ," he revealed.
Embiid didn't hold back. He brought jerseys for himself, his wife, his father-in-law, and his son , as well as accessories like shorts and thermoses. The visit even helped meet the store's sales goals. The center also obliged some fans and store owners by agreeing to take photos with them.
Embiid's connection with Flamengo isn't new. In 2023, during an interview with the NBA Freestyle program, he revealed that he started supporting Flamengo because of his wife's family: " Actually, I'm a Flamengo fan because my girlfriend's father is a fan . Since we started dating, I've been following the team," he said.
In January 2024, when Flamengo held a preseason training camp in Philadelphia, Embiid met Léo Pereira and Matheus Gonçalves . The defender even posted a photo with the star: " Nice to meet you, brother ." Thus, the relationship between Joel Embiid and Flamengo continues to grow, uniting basketball and soccer in a connection that already transcends borders.
