The Flamengo had another player called upfor the October FIFA Date: Gonzalo Plata. The striker was called up to join the Ecuadorian national team for the next 2026 World Cup qualifiers. As a result, Plata will be available for the clashes against Paraguay and Uruguay.

Plata's return after indiscipline
In March, Gonzalo Plata, together with Arboleda and Kendry Páez, was spotted in a nightclub in New York, in the United States, before the Copa América. Although they claimed to be having a break, the Ecuadorian Federation punished the players, who were seen with drinks, half-naked women and showing money. Since then, Plata and Arboleda have been left out of the squad, while Páez has been pardoned because he is underage.
After Ecuador's poor performance in the Copa América, coach Félix Sánchez Bas was fired and replaced by Beccacece, who debuted against Brazil. Despite the change in the coaching staff, Plata remained out of the squad until now, when he received a new opportunity.
Flamengo squad players
Flamengo can have up to six players called up for October's FIFA Date. In addition to Gonzalo Plata, Gerson was also called up to defend the Brazilian team. Arrascaeta, De La Cruz and Varela are on Uruguay's pre-list, and Erick Pulgar is expected in the Chilean team.
