This Thursday (5), Maurício Gomes de Mattos (MGM) has officially launched his candidacy for the presidency of Flamengo in an event attended by supporters such as Eduardo Bandeira de Mello and Márcio Braga. During the event, Márcio Braga, former president of the club, criticized the current management, led by Rodolfo Landim, highlighting issues such as the possible adoption of SAF (Sociedade Anônima do Futebol) and the purchase of land for the new stadium.

Braga openly criticized the way the current board has handled the new stadium project for Flamengo. Furthermore, he claimed that Landim's administration has plans to implement the SAF at the club, but expressed confidence that, with MGM at the helm, this measure will be avoided.

"What are they plotting for us in the Flamengo is unacceptable, they are deceiving us. I have been a notary in the city of Rio de Janeiro for 67 years and I would not buy land. that I couldn't have the deed and couldn't register it. That's not done, they're fooling us. We want a stadium, Flamengo deserves to have a stadium, but without a clear economic-financial project for its construction, that won't happen. does”, said Márcio Braga, before continuing.

“At the deliberative council meeting, the one who has been Flamengo’s financial coordinator in the current administration, Rodrigo Tostes, an excellent red-black, came close me and said: “I'm not going to vote, Flamengo won't put up with this”. It's a danger we're going through, don't have the slightest doubt about what I'm saying. The truth is that they are preparing a situation for Flamengo to become unviable and, as a result, become a SAF. That's what they want, but Maurício won't let that happen”, concluded the former president.

With six terms as president of Flamengo(1977-1978, 1979-1980, 1987-1988, 1991-1992, 2004-2006, 2007-2009), Márcio Braga expressed what he hopes for the future of Rubro-Negro under the leadership of Maurício Gomes de Mattos, if he takes command of the club.

“May he regain the joy of being red-black, may he have the excitement of Flamengo. May there be the joy of our wonderful people, may they put the electric trio on the street and go down the avenue champion, champion and champion.”, said the former leader.

Estudiantes ' likely lineup for the clash includes: Muslera; Gómez, Nuñez, Rodríguez, Arzamendia; Ascacibar, Piovi, Amondarain, Medina, Tiago Palacios; Carrillo.

It's not yet clear whether Piovi will play as an extra midfielder or be replaced by Castro . Amondarain, despite being an attacking midfielder, could drop back and act as a third midfielder, depending on Domínguez's strategy in recent training sessions.

FLAMENGO WILL HAVE A CHALLENGE

With the prospect of a more closed Argentine team, Flamengo, under the command of Filipe Luís, will have to work hard to break down Estudiantes' defense and seek a positive result in the first leg of the Libertadores quarterfinals.
