Flamengo presidential candidate, Maurício Gomes de Mattos (MGM) spoke about the possibility of hiring Neymar, currently at Al-Hilal, during an interview after debate promoted by ESPN. According to MGM, the star's arrival would be part of a marketing project if he agreed to play for the club.
“It depends on him. A crack is a crack. I have a lot of admiration for Neymar's football, if he wants to come, Flamengo will study marketing, but of course always counting on professionals. This has to go through our management council, our football council, our professionals need to analyze”, said Maurício.
However, MGM highlighted that this is just a personal idea. The hiring would depend on the approval of professionals from the football department.
“It's not just the president, you spoke about the president's dream, but our regime will be professional. We will listen to the technical director and the technical committee to decide if it is possible for us to get marketing to carry out the project. But it depends on the professionals”, he added.
GABIGOL SITUATION
Asked about Gabigol's stay at Flamengo, MGM preferred not to delve deeper, maintaining a cautious stance.
“It will depend on the professionals. In the analysis, I think he (Gabigol) is looking for another path due to the lack of professionalism of this management. But it will be analyzed”, concluded the candidate.
It is worth remembering that Santos, Neymar and Gabigol's former club, would be interested in bringing the two players together. The São Paulo club reportedly presented a proposal for the red-black striker and continues to monitor the situation of Neymar, whose contract with Al-Hilal runs until June 2025.

Officially presented this Monday with the number 15 shirt, Jorge Carrascal arrived at Flamengo with the mission of strengthening the creative sector, occupying a role in which Arrascaeta has been a reference since 2019. Although he has not yet debuted with the Manto Sagrado, the Colombian midfielder stated that playing for the Rio de Janeiro club represents an important milestone in his professional career.
"The truth is, I came to Flamengo with a purpose: to work, compete, and achieve the best for the club. The short-term goal is to play and earn matches. I'll work hard, focus on the clear objective, and the lineup will depend on the coach," the player declared.
During the interview, Carrascal made a point of praising the club's structure and the Mais Querido's representation in the South American scene. According to him, the decision to wear the red-and-black jersey was made with conviction.
