Diones Coelho da Silva, the driver who ran over Kayky Brito at the beginning of last month (September), revealed on his personal Instagram that he finally bought a new car. The money used was donated by internet users through an online fundraiser. In a video, he thanked and showed the vehicle leaving directly from the store.
"This is the surprise I spoke of, and in gratitude to God and to each one of you who contributed to making this possible, and by the grace of God, were used as an instrument to sow this gift in my life! Gratitude", said the app driver who, unintentionally, ended up getting involved in the accident with the Flamengo fan.
"Today I'm getting the new car so I can work in a better category on the apps, and be able to increase my monthly income, drive fewer hours also for the category I'm going to work in! Once again, gratitude to everyone, who May God prosper in all areas of each one of you's lives! You have certainly always been in my prayers. Gratitude overflows my heart! God is good all the time", concluded Diones.
The driver was cleared by authorities linked to the case a few weeks after the incident. It was proven that there wasn't much that Diones could have done, as Kayky got in front of the car very quickly and when it was already very close. Furthermore, the professional was respecting the speed limits, was not under the influence of any substance and images reveal how attentive he was to driving.
Kayky Brito was run over in the early hours of September 2nd, on Avenida Lúcio Costa, in Barra da Tijuca, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. He was drunk and ended up suffering multiple body trauma and head trauma. The red-and-black actor had to stay in intensive care for more than twenty days.
