Despite Flamengo being the favorite, Santos managed to hold their own against the Rio de Janeiro team during the 14th round of the Brazilian Championship, played at Vila Belmiro. At the end of the match, Neymar, who started, acknowledged the opponent's strength but expressed optimism about Santos' future.

"For me, Flamengo is the best team in the league, but today we showed we can do much more. It's a fresh start for everyone," said Santos' number 10, who was directly involved in the team's key plays.

FLAMENGO MAINTAINS GOOD PHASE

Despite the evenly matched performance, the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) continues to boast the best defense and attack in the Brasileirão. With 26 goals scored and only 6 conceded in 15 rounds, the red-and-black team managed to demonstrate good consistency against Santos, but struggled with Neymar's individuality in the goal scored.

HOW WAS NEYMAR'S GOAL?

In the 38th minute, Neymar received the ball inside the box after a good play by Guilherme, dribbled past Léo Pereira and Varela, and finished across goal to open the scoring and secure the three points for Santos. In the 49th minute, Wesley almost equalized with a beautiful shot from distance , but was saved by the Santos goalkeeper.

FLAMENGO'S NEXT COMMITMENT

After the game against Santos, Flamengo returns to the field this Sunday (20) to face Fluminense, for the Brasileirão. In short, the ball rolls at 7:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã. The Mais Querido remains the leader of the tournament with 27 points.

Coach Filipe Luís will be able to count on all Flamengo players for training during the FIFA Data period, which begins this Monday (6). No Flamengo athlete was called up for this month's friendlies , allowing the coaching staff to work with the full group.

The last list released was that of the Uruguayan national team , but coach Marcelo Bielsa chose not to call up Arrascaeta, De La Cruz, Varela and Viña. The same happened with Carrascal (Colombia), Plata (Ecuador) and Samuel Lino, Alex Sandro, Danilo, Léo Ortiz, Léo Pereira and Pedro , who could defend the Brazilian national team.

Flamengo has reached agreements with the federations to protect its players. The club's medical department has submitted reports detailing the physical strain caused by the backlog of matches, particularly regarding players who could have been called up by Uruguay.

NEXT CHALLENGE

Flamengo was defeated by Bahia 1-0 , last Sunday (5), at Arena Fonte Nova, in a match valid for the 27th round of the Brasileirão Betano. With the result, the team dropped to second place , being overtaken by Palmeiras, which took the top of the table.

According to exclusive information from Bolavip, director José Boto will meet with coach Filipe Luís to analyze the mistakes made in recent games. The intention is not to pressure the coaching staff, but to understand the factors that led the team , despite having a qualified squad, to perform below expectations.

The idea is to take advantage of the FIFA World Cup break to identify and correct any flaws , avoiding point losses that could jeopardize the title race in the upcoming rounds. Furthermore, there's an important match against Racing in the Copa Libertadores.

FILIPE LUÍS RENEWAL

According to information published by the newspaper "O Globo," Flamengo 's football director, José Boto, met with businessman Jorge Mendes to discuss the renewal of Filipe Luís's contract. According to journalist Diogo Dantas, the meeting led to a positive move towards the coach's permanence , although the official signing is not expected until the end of the year.
