Flamengo's bet for 2024, Carlinhos debuted with the red-black shirt when he came on in the 31st minute of the second half of the 2-1 victory over Atlético-GOin Serra Dourada, in the first round of the Brazilian Championship. After getting rid of the butterflies from his debut, he will have the mission of countering the statistics of the attackers who have been scoring goals at Carioca and gaining chances at big clubs, he will have to break a 'curse' that involved players like him. The reality is that few managed to succeed. Check out some recent examples below:
Just like Carlinhos , Lelê was Carioca's second top scorer, but last year with 13 goals for Volta Redonda, and joined the championship team at the age of 25. Performance that took him to Fluminense, but to this day he has not established himself. In 50 games with the tricolor shirt, there were eight goals and five assists.
In the 2021 Carioca, Chay appeared well at the age of 30 in Portuguesa, with five goals and three assists in 13 games. Hired by Botafogo, he did well in Series B that year, but lost space the following year and left the club with eight goals and 11 assists in 50 games.
Another highlight of Volta Redonda, Alef Manga was the Carioca 2021 top scorer with nine goals and also joined the championship team when he was 26 years old. Soon after, he was loaned to Goiás, where he scored 10 goals and four assists in 34 games. His performance took him to Coritiba, where he did well. But, at the age of 29, he was loaned to Pafos, in Cyprus, after becoming a defendant in the process that investigates the manipulation of results in Brazilian football.
Matheus Babi was 22 years old when he appeared well in the 2020 Carioca, playing five goals for Macaé. Loaned to Botafogo, he scored 15 goals in 48 games and was bought by Athletico-PR in 2021, but did poorly at Furacão. There were only four balls in the net and one decisive pass in 32 matches.
To sign Carlinhos, the second top scorer of the last Carioca at the age of 27 with eight goals, Flamengo paid 600 thousand euros (around R$ 3 .2 million) to Nova Iguaçu. And he also won competition from a rival, as the striker's agent had advanced negotiations with Vasco. This Wednesday, he will be able to make his debut with the red-black shirt at Maracanã in the match against São Paulo, at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), in the second round of the Brasileirão.

Flamengo idol Adriano Imperador stated in an interview that he played more than some of the biggest names in world football. With a career marked by talent, physical strength, and humility , "Didico" continues to be fondly remembered by Flamengo fans.
During an appearance on the show Boteco do Chula, Adriano was asked if he had performed at a higher level than stars like Ronaldo, Romário, Ibrahimovic, Mbappé, Lewandowski, and Gabigol . The former player candidly stated that he considers himself superior to some of them.
In the Emperor's opinion, Kyllian Mbappé, Robert Lewandowski, and Gabigol are behind him . However, according to Adriano himself, Romário, Ibrahimovic , and Ronaldo Fenômeno are in a higher tier.
Adriano's most significant connection with the club came in the 2009 Brazilian Championship . During that campaign, the striker played in 30 of the 38 rounds, scoring 19 goals and contributing four assists. With him on the field, the team recorded 15 wins, seven draws, and eight losses. This victory was decisive not only for the club's recent history, but also for the Emperor's career.
Adriano recalls that title as the greatest moment of his career on the field. In a recent interview with GE, he highlighted the team's unity as a determining factor in winning the trophy: " Theoretically, I was down there, the team wasn't doing well. An unforgettable title for me. The group was very good. We really came together, and that made it possible for us to be champions, for sure ."
