A 2025 pre-season in the United States has a financial impact limited to Flamengo. With little time to plan the trip due to the change of management, the club's new board does not foresee a profit from the event. The objective, therefore, is to at least avoid losses by covering logistics costs. The information is from the ‘GE’ portal.
Expenses for air, ground transportation and accommodation are covered by Flamengo, while the organization of the FC Series provides the training structure and contributes part of the expenses of the stadium where the team will play. Rubro-Negro will face São Paulo on January 19th, at the Inter Miami stadium, in Fort Lauderdale, with the ticket proceeds being divided equally between the two clubs.
CHANGE OF MANAGEMENT HARMED PLANNING
O Flamengo recognizes that, with more planning time, it could have taken advantage of the pre-season to generate additional revenue, such as marketing activations. However, the presidency transition made these initiatives unfeasible.
The agreement to participate in the FC Series was closed during the management of Rodolfo Landim, and the new administration, led by Bap, considered cancelling the trip. However, withdrawal would result in the payment of a heavy fineand possible legal consequences in the United States, as tickets for the event were on sale.
FOCUS ON BRAND AND SPORTS PREPARATION
Although it does not bring immediate profit, Flamengo's management aims for long-term benefits. The internationalization of the brand is one of the main points, considering that the club was recently in Florida, in 2019 and 2024. In addition to strengthening ties with fans in the USA, the presence in country is strategic due to the holding of the Club World Cup in North American territory in June this year.
From a sporting point of view, this will be coach Filipe Luís's first pre-season in charge of the main team. The period away from Rio is seen as an opportunity to strengthen integration between the cast, technical committee and the new football director, José Boto.
TRAINING STRUCTURE
Flamengo will use the facilities of the University of Florida, dividing it between the Donald Dizney stadiums (dedicated to football women) and Ben Hill Griffin (focused on men's American football). The technical committee believes that the environment away from everyday life in Rio de Janeiro will provide better conditions for the group to interact.
Mengão takes victory to the return game against the Argentines that takes place on the 25th, at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at the Jorge Luis Hirschi stadium

Flamengo defeated Argentina's Estudiantes 2-1 at the Maracanã Stadium . The red-and-black team decided the match in the first half with goals from Pedro and Varela. Mengão gave Estudiantes no time to breathe in Rio de Janeiro with a lightning goal.
Just 15 seconds in, Pedro capitalized on a pass from Plata, turned on his marker, and fired a left-footed shot to open the scoring. The quick goal undermined Argentina's strategy and galvanized the Rio de Janeiro team, who continued to press. A few minutes later, Ayrton Lucas crossed from the left and Varela hit a beautiful volley into Muslera's corner, extending the red-and-blacks' lead in the first half.
Even with a two-goal lead, Flamengo maintained control and nearly made it three with Pedro, whose shot was spectacularly saved by the Uruguayan goalkeeper. Estudiantes , for their part, barely threatened Rossi's goal and only managed to partially level the score in the final minutes of the first half . The feeling at Maracanã was that the 2-0 scoreline was a cheap one for the visitors.
In the second half, the pace dropped. Coach Eduardo Domínguez made substitutions, trying to give the Argentine team more momentum, but he ran into the red-and-black defense. The match was not without its tense moments, with cards for Saúl, Samuel Lino, and Alexis Castro, and Plata's sending-off after a second yellow card in a dispute with Facundo Rodríguez . At the end of the second half, Estudiantes scored in the 46th minute to leave the match open in Argentina.
With the 2-1 victory, Flamengo takes the lead in the quarterfinals of the Libertadores. The return leg is scheduled for the 25th, at 9:30 pm, at the Jorge Luis Hirschi Stadium, in Argentina. Before that, the team led by Tite faces Vasco next Sunday (21), for the Brazilian Championship, again at Maracanã.
