This Thursday (1) the International Surfing Association (ISA) announced the suspension of judge Ben Lowe, who will no longer judge the performance of surfers at the 2024 Olympics. The entity's decision came after a photo that went viral in which the referee appears next to one of the athletes competing.

The photo in question was published last Monday. Australian surfer Ethan Ewing was off duty due to the poor sea conditions at Teahupoo, and shocked the web by appearing alongside coach Bede Durbidge and Ben Lowe, also an Australian and one of the Olympic referees who are judging the waves in the competition.

"These three boys from Straddie (an island in Australia) doing their job at the Olympics", read the caption of the published photo, which is no longer available.

In the decision, the ISA informed that it is : "it is inappropriate for a judge to interact in this way with an athlete" and that removing him from the Olympic judging panel "to protect the integrity and fairness of the competition".

AUSTRALIAN JUDGE HAD ALREADY BEEN THE TARGET OF PROTESTS

In April, Ben Lowe had already been the target of protests from CBSurf (Brazilian Surfing Confederation), which sent a letter to the ISA demonstrating concern about the integrity of the judging at the Olympics.

Remembering that it was Ben Lowe who judged Gabriel Medina at the Tokyo Olympics, where the Brazilian was eliminated by the Japanese Kanoa Igarashi, after the Australian judge's score.

Due to his prominence at Real Madrid and being among the finalists for the Ballon d'Or, Vinícius Júnior ends up dealing with great expectations from the Brazilian public whenever he defends the Brazilian team. However, according to Dorival Júnior, it is necessary to measure one's hopes and demands and be patient for the attacker to repeat his feats with Amarelinha.

The former Flamengo coach also highlighted in a press conference after the victory against Ecuador, which Vini Jr has recently faced a scenario similar to what Neymar has faced since he came into football: being responsible for solving Brazil's problems.

"We want to see the athlete producing at all times, in every moment in the same way he does at the club. We have cycles within the clubs, there are moments when Rodrygo will be the highlight for a month, two months, soon Vini will enter this same condition... We are at the beginning of the season, we can't forget that", pondered Dorival, before completing:

"We always generate great expectations from boys who are still in the process of completing training and physical recovery. It's been an exhausting year. We need to be very calm. This is the same expectation generated by Neymar, who at all times had to be the solution to our problems", said the Canarinho coach.

VINI JR WITH THE BRAZILIAN SELECTION

In the last Copa América, Vini Jr's performance was not well received by the fans. This is because, despite the striker having scored two goals in the victory against Paraguay, in the first phase, he was suspended for accumulating yellow cards, leaving him out. elimination against Uruguay, in the quarter-finals.

At just 24 years old and playing for the main team since 2019, Vinícius Júnior has already played 34 games, but scored just five goals, different numbers from his last seasons with Real Madrid.

In the defeat by 2 to 1 for the Corinthians, Ramon Abatti Abel's refereeing was once again the target of complaints from Flamengo's sides. The defender Fabrício Bruno left the field complaining about the judge’s decisions. Coach Ramón Díaz, from the São Paulo club, also stated that the referee interfered in the game in a way that was detrimental to both teams. Ramon Abatti's poor command of the game is nothing new in Mengo games. The survey is from 'Mundo Rubro-Negro'.

Penalty not scored on Pedro in the Copa do Brasil

In the 2024 Copa do Brasil, Ramon Abatti Abel did not score a penalty on Pedro , in the game between Flamengo x Amazonas. Mais Querido qualified, but protested a lot against the arbitration, sending a letter to the CBF so that the error would not go unnoticed despite the red and black victory.

“The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that it will formalize with the CBF a complaint for the clear penalty suffered by striker Pedro, not marked by the refereeing, in the 21st minute of the first half”, said the Flamengo statement.

In the 20th minute of the first half, in a corner kick for Flamengo, Léo Ortiz managed to win a live ball and passed to Pedro. The attacker came face to face with goalkeeper Marcão, who prevented the play by using his knee to stop the number 9's progress.

However, the VAR audio shows that the judge and video referee understood that there was no penalty because the goalkeeper hit the ball first. However, if he had not done so, the Amazonas archer would have hit Pedro in the same way, but the referee ordered the game to continue.

Penalty not scored in Everton Ribeiro against Palmeiras

No Brasileirão 2023, Ramon Abatti Abel had already failed to score a penalty for Mais Querido. Richard Rios made a charge on Everton Ribeiro's back, but the move was ignored by the referee. At that moment, the game was 1-0 for alviverde, but with a lot of playing time, Flamengo would still have time to try to turn things around. The charge was very clear, however, nothing was marked.

Ramon Abatti Abel had already harmed Flamengo against Corinthians

Against Corinthians, Ramon Abatti Abel had already been the protagonist of yet another questionable departure on your part. In Brasileirão 2022, the referee ignored an expulsion for the Corinthians side, and did not even show a yellow card after a very harsh tackle by Du Queiroz on Rodrigo Caio. The defender had to leave the field and was out for months due to injury. Even though Flamengo was absent for the game, Du Queiroz continued without problems within the four lines.

Judge also harmed the club against Internacional

Another error by Ramon Abatti Abel against Flamengo happened in the first round of the Brasileirão 2023, against Internacional. Mengão lost 2-1, but the second goal featured a simulation by the opposing player in the play. Despite the staging, which should have stopped the match, the play went well and Maurício scored his second goal of the game.
