Gerson's departure from Flamengo occurred in a peculiar context, leaving fans and analysts full of doubts. Despite being the team captain, a national idol, and one of the highest-paid players on the roster, the midfielder chose to end his time at the club on a high note , a decision that generated surprise and questions.
Even before the Club World Cup, the destination was already decided: Zenit, Russia. The official announcement was made after the end of the tournament in the United States , surprising the red-and-black fans. The transfer was criticized, both for the way it was handled and for the choice of the new club.
Another notable factor in the move was Gerson 's absence from Carlo Ancelotti's latest list of players for the Brazilian national team. The coach's decision sparked debate, with many pointing out that the move to Russian football reduced the player's chances of remaining on the Brazilian national team's radar.
Just a few months after arriving at Zenit, signs of discomfort and even regret are emerging. According to the European newspaper Euro-football.ru, Gerson is reportedly unhappy with the transfer, sparking speculation about his future at the club.
Without its former captain, Filipe Luís' Flamengo returns to the field on Sunday, September 14, against Juventude, at 4 pm (Brasília time), at Alfredo Jaconi Stadium , for the 23rd round of the Brazilian Championship. The Most Beloved leads the competition alone, with 47 points, closely followed by Cruzeiro (44) and Palmeiras (43).
The channel is still looking for great professionals for its sports broadcasts and the former Mengão striker is one of the targets for commentator

Cazé TV, run by Casimiro Miguel, recently made moves in the market to recruit new talent to strengthen its broadcast team. One of the targets was former striker Paulo Nunes, who came through Flamengo's ranks and is currently a commentator for Globo . However, the former player ultimately declined the offer, according to columnist Flávio Ricco.
In addition to Paulo Nunes, Cazé TV also approached Grupo Globo professionals, such as narrator Gustavo Villani and journalist Vinícius Rodrigues , who also declined the offer. These moves come amid the launch of GE TV, Globo's new platform that emerges as a direct competitor to Casimiro's digital project.
The former striker was also in Band's sights, as reported by journalist Gabriel Vaquer. The São Paulo broadcaster even considered Paulo Nunes as a replacement for Denílson , who left the channel to sign with Globo earlier this year. However, Globo itself did not authorize the commentator's departure, and he remains on its staff.
A Cazé TV dream, Paulo Nunes built a successful career on the field . Playing for Flamengo , he won important titles, such as the Copinha, the Campeonato Carioca, the Copa do Brasil, and the Campeonato Brasileiro.
At Grêmio, he experienced perhaps the most remarkable phase of his career, winning the Libertadores, Recopa Sudamericana, Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil, and Campeonato Gaúcho , becoming a club idol. He then also shone at Palmeiras, winning another Libertadores, as well as the Copa do Brasil and Copa Mercosul. Towards the end of his career, he played for Corinthians, where he won the São Paulo State Championship, but never returned to Flamengo.
