Coach Jorge Sampaoli should have his resignation made official by Flamengo this week. Rubro Negro is now awaiting an agreement with Tite to make the decision official. The Argentine coach will leave the club along with the six members of his technical committee, including the recently hired physical trainer Nicolas Maidana.
The physical trainer was hired by Rubro Negro to replace Pablo Fernández, who left the club for attacking striker Pedro with a punch to the face. Therefore, the Uruguayan did not complete two months at the club and the results of his work with the squad were not noticeable in the games.
Some Mais Querido players suffered muscle injuries shortly after Nicolas' arrival. Luiz Araújo and Arrascaeta were injured in the first minutes of the match against Internacional after a free week for training. Then, Filipe Luís had a muscle problem in training.
Physiotherapist Hector Pelerano explained in an interview with MRN that the change in methodology during the season could have an influence on injuries. The professional highlights that regardless of Nicolas' quality, problems can occur due to the difference in adaptation of each athlete.
“Each professional works according to their technical knowledge and at times, despite the objectives being the same, the way to reach them changes. This change can bring a different training load than what players were used to, requiring a period of adaptation and leaving players more susceptible to physical overload injuries, such as muscle injuries”, explains Hector.
Victory over Internacional in the Libertadores puts Mengão above the main teams in European football, such as the Spanish team and the French champions.

Flamengo achieved an impressive feat under Filipe Luís. With the 2-0 victory over Internacional , this Wednesday (20), at Beira-Rio, the club reached 43 triumphs since October 2024 , becoming the team with the most victories in the world in that period.
Rubro-Negro overcame European football powers such as PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona , who recorded 42, 39 and 37 victories, respectively, which further consolidates the numbers achieved since the coach began his work at Mengão.
In addition to the record, Flamengo also confirmed its place in the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores . The team eliminated Internacional with two victories: 1-0 at Maracanã and 2-0 at Beira-Rio. In the next round, they will face Estudiantes (ARG).
