Gonzalo Plata's call-up for the Ecuadorian national team's friendlies during the FIFA World Cup continues to have repercussions. In light of the repercussions, Francisco Egas decided to take a stand. In an interview with Ecuador's Marca 90 channel, the president denied any hasty action by the federation and reinforced that Flamengo was consulted throughout the process: "I deeply regret Flamengo's statements and announcement. What we did, at all times, was to be in permanent communication with them. Beccacece [Ecuador's coach] spoke to everyone at Flamengo . We are taking this in a responsible manner," said Egas.
The director added that Plata 's call-up was made based on medical and recovery evaluations, and that the red-black club was aware of the situation. "We would be crazy if we risked our players for something they are not capable of. Everything we did was with respect. Gonzalo, we did it with the knowledge of the people at the club," added the President.
The public response came at a time when the Ecuadorian press was also beginning to report on the conflict. Local media outlets reported surprise at Flamengo's stance and reiterated that the federation had not been negligent in handling the case. Egas also admitted to understanding the Rio de Janeiro club's side, especially given Flamengo 's schedule and proximity to important competitions. However, he argued that the Ecuadorian national team also has its own goals and protocols to follow.

The Rubro-Negro faces the Tricolor with some important absences : Erick Pulgar remains out for physical reconditioning after recovering from a fifth metatarsal injury in his right foot. The midfielder is only expected to return after the next FIFA International Matchday.
Léo Pereira and Alex Sandro are suspended after receiving their third yellow card in the draw with Cruzeiro on Thursday (02). Saúl Ñíguez felt pain in his left ankle and did not travel to Salvador , being preserved by the technical committee.
