José Boto's situation at Flamengo is increasingly uncomfortable. The trigger for the recent crisis was the failed attempt to sign striker Michael Johnston.
José Boto is said to have arranged the deal, but Braz and the DM's veto put an end to the negotiation . The official justification involved an alleged failure in the medical exams, but behind the scenes, the interpretation was that there was interference in the technical area. According to information revealed by journalist Julio Miguel Neto, Boto showed dissatisfaction with the situation. In a conversation via text message, the director is said to have stated that he did not like having his decision blocked by members of the board. The insinuation is that the promise of autonomy upon taking over the football department is not being fulfilled.
Amid the rumors, journalist Paulo Vinicius Coelho, known as PVC, posted a video on his social media claiming that he had spoken with president Bap. According to him, the Flamengo leader was direct: “I never considered changing the leadership of Flamengo’s football team.” Bap’s statement reinforces the idea that José Boto continues to have internal support, even with the turbulent scenario. The leadership’s assessment is that the work is still in its early stages and that any change now would bring more instability than solutions.
The delicate moment occurs on the eve of the resumption of the Brazilian Championship, with Flamengo facing São Paulo this Saturday (12). Amid the focus on the pitch, the crisis off the pitch disrupts the internal environment and puts pressure on results in the short term. In addition to the crisis involving Boto, PVC also revealed another relevant piece of information: Flamengo is not considering the possibility of selling its main players in this window.

Newly arrived at Flamengo, midfielder Jorge Carrascal was called up by the Colombian national team for the last two rounds of the South American World Cup Qualifiers. The list was released this Friday (29) by the Colombian Football Federation and coach Néstor Lorenzo.
Besides Carrascal, only one other Brazilian soccer player was called up: Bahia's Santiago Arias. In total, the 26 players called up are spread across 12 different countries , reinforcing the Colombian national team's international reach.
The Colombian national team will play its final two qualifiers in September. On the 4th, it faces Bolivia in Barranquilla. Next, it travels to face Venezuela at the Monumental Stadium in Maturín.

The midfielder reached a historic mark by becoming the player with the most assists in the history of the Brazilian Championship, surpassing established idols of national football.

For this achievement, he received a commemorative plaque from football director José Boto, in recognition of his career and impact on Brazilian football. Of his total, 60 assists were for Cruzeiro , while another 18 were recorded for Cruzeiro between 2015 and 2018.
