Without hiring reinforcements for the defense, Flamengo was named after Angolan defender Kialonda Gaspar, from Estrela da Amadora, in Portugal. According to journalist Venê Casagrande, from SBT Rio, the person who offered Gaspar to Mengão was Jorge Jesus' manager. Marcos Braz and Bruno Spindel have not yet decided whether they will open negotiations with the African.

As said by the journalist, Gaspar was already in the sights of Portuguese giant Porto, but the conversations did not progress at the time. Therefore, Flamengo is aware that the transaction would not be cheap. The club continues to struggle to sign Léo Ortiz.

Kialonda Gaspar's contract with the Portuguese team will only end in June 2026. Captain of Estrela Amadora, his market value is assessed in 1 million euros, around R$5 million. Flamengo began its journey in the 2025 Libertadores with a 1-0 victory over Deportivo Táchira (VEN), away from home. The scorer of the opening goal was Juninho , who received a special tribute on the competition's social media.
Conmebol Libertadores, through X (formerly Twitter), celebrated the feat with the post: “ Juninho is a goal. It’s Flamengo for Eternal Glory !” The post also featured a video that highlighted the entire goal play, from the build-up to the striker’s accurate finish.

Juninho started the match on the bench , but came on in the second half and needed less than a minute to score . The goal came after an assist from Bruno Henrique, guaranteeing Mengão's first victory in the competition.

Central Córdoba , from Argentina , tried to sign midfielder Lucas Mugni , currently at Ceará . The club, which is in Flamengo 's group in the Libertadores , offered 300 thousand dollars (around R$ 1.7 million) for the player, but had the offer rejected.
