Real Madrid considers selling Vini Jr., ex-Flamengo, to acquire Bayern star

Among Flamengo's squad for the FIFA Date in September, Jorge Carrascal was the only one who did not enter the field . Called up by the Colombian national team, the midfielder was not even included in the match against Venezuela, last Tuesday (9).

CARRASCAL NEEDS TO REGAIN SPACE

The midfielder's absence from the last two qualifying matches reinforces his recent loss of prominence in the Colombian national team. With qualification for the World Cup already assured, Carrascal will have to prove himself at Flamengo to regain coach Néstor Lorenzo's consideration .

Currently, the player has only played three matches for Rubro-Negro, all coming off the bench: two against Internacional (Libertadores and Brasileirão) and in the 8-0 rout over Vitória . In total, he has played 68 minutes on the field wearing the Sacred Mantle.

Despite a timid start, coach Filipe Luís made a point of highlighting Carrascal's quality and potential , projecting that the Colombian can win over Flamengo fans and revealed that he wants to make the midfielder a future idol of the club.

"He's a player with extreme quality. If he gets minutes on the field, everyone will see how refined he is technically. I have high hopes that he becomes an idol, because he's the kind of player the fans love to watch . The way he carries the ball and creates opportunities is something that could mark the club's history for years to come," said the coach.

Commentator Denílson revealed that Filipe Luís is in no rush to renew his contract with Flamengo. The coach's contract runs until the end of the current season, and although he is highly valued internally , his lack of clarity opens the door to speculation and even potential interest from European clubs if a deal doesn't materialize.

Despite his excellent work at the helm of the club, Filipe Luís will likely negotiate a salary increase to extend his contract . JORGE JESUS WILL NOT RETURN TO FLAMENGO

During his commentary, Denílson mentioned Jorge Jesus, currently at Al-Nassr, but ruled out any possibility of the Portuguese coach returning to Flamengo . He believes the coach will be remembered only for his winning streak in 2019 and 2020, without posing a threat to the continuity of the current project.

"Filipe Luís has signaled that he doesn't want to renew yet. Flamengo said: 'Shall we renew? Wait a minute.' If Filipe Luís doesn't renew, who would be a good name for this Flamengo ? They're in a good phase and swimming with ease... But forget it, this guy (Jorge Jesus) isn't coming back ," said Denílson.

WHAT'S FLAMENGO'S NEXT GAME?

Due to the FIFA World Cup, Flamengo will be sidelined for two weeks. Filipe Luís's side will return to action on September 14th at 4pm (Brasília time) against Juventude at Alfredo Jaconi Stadium for the 23rd round of the Brazilian Championship. With 47 points, Flamengo remains in the lead, followed by Cruzeiro (44) and Palmeiras (43).

Arrascaeta, currently enjoying one of the best moments of his career, hasn't just captivated Flamengo fans . The Uruguayan midfielder has also been attracting attention from players in Europe . A former teammate at Flamengo, Wesley even suggested signing the number 10 for Roma (ITA).

While participating in a TNT Sports quiz, Wesley was asked which Flamengo player he would take to Roma. The full-back joked, "Can't it be the whole team?" When he said no, he added, " Arrascaeta would fit right in, wouldn't he ?!"
