Flamengo encounters an obstacle in planning to build your new stadiumat Gasologista, a project that the club hopes to open in November 2029, in celebration of the anniversary of its founding. Before starting work, the club needs to resolve issues with the Rio de Janeiro Energy and Basic Sanitation Regulatory Agency (Agnersa) and the Companhia Distribuidora de Gás (CEG) .

The main issue involves the removal of CEG facilities, which include warehouses, warehouses, laboratories, a gas pipeline and a regulation and measurement station. This equipment is located on the land designated for the stadium, making it necessary to remove it before work begins.

Responsibility for costing

One of the central points of the impasse is defining who will be responsible for the costs of transferring these structures. According to the opinion issued, CEG should not bear these expenses, placing the responsibility on Flamengo.

"Municipal Public Administration assigns responsibility for the related costs to the winner of the contest and future owner of the property to the eventual demobilization and transfer of facilities and equipment. Therefore, it is understood that it will be up to CEG to negotiate with the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo the resolution of the controversy", points out the document.

Rio de Janeiro city hall confirmed that it started cleaning the land on November 4th, but declared that the removal of CEG structures is the club's responsibility, after purchasing the space.

“They are making me defend Flamengo more than I would like: let it be clear that this is not the cost of this transfer and that , when it happens, it will be the responsibility of Rio City Hall, which knows that this structure cannot be in an area that already receives so many residential buildings. It's been in our plans for a long time! Flamengo will have its new stadium there in Gasologista with all the quality and safetythat the region demands and deserves. Period”, said Eduardo Paes, in September.

Marcus Vinícius Barbosa, attorney general of Agnersa, stated that Flamengo needs to have awareness of requirementsto ensure safety and mitigate construction impacts on site.

“It is necessary to recommend that the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo is made official so that it becomes aware of the relevance of the existing infrastructure at the location and so that it is informed that the construction of any sports equipment on the property is subject to the definition of a solution related to the transfer of said infrastructure, which must be directly negotiated with CEG and mediated by Agenersa and the State of Rio de Janeiro”, states.

Next steps

With the works still subject to the resolution of this impasse, Flamengo will have to negotiate directly with CEG and Agnersa to establish a schedule and make the start of the project. Even with the support of the City Hall in cleaning the land, the club will need to find a solution to pay for the transfer of the facilities and meet security demands.

This is a fundamental step so that the dream of its own stadium in Gasmetro, planned as a milestone in the club's history, can get off the ground and be completed within the expected deadline.

Flamengo's Deliberative Council approved, this Tuesday (19), the master sponsorship contract with Betano , one of the global leaders in sports betting. The link will begin on August 20, 2025 and will remain valid until December 31, 2028 , guaranteeing the club R$268 million per season. The agreement is considered the largest ever signed in national football.

The partnership includes brand exposure on the uniforms of the professional team and also on Olympic sports such as volleyball, basketball, and women's soccer. Additionally, the company will be featured on Flamengo TV content, expanding commercial integration and global visibility. The board emphasizes that the agreement is not limited to financial support, but opens doors to new business opportunities.

AGREEMENT PUTS FLAMENGO AT 'OTO' LEVEL

With values comparable to those of European football giants, the contract brings Flamengo closer to clubs like Real Madrid, PSG, and Barcelona. For comparison, Flamengo's partnership surpasses sponsorships from clubs like Ajax, whose partnership with Ziggo generates only €8 million (approximately R$51 million) per year. This amount places the Brazilian team in 10th place in the world rankings for largest sponsorship deals.

Striker Juninho traveled with the Flamengo squad to Porto Alegre, where the team faces Internacional this Wednesday (20) , for the decisive clash of the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. However, the player's use is not yet confirmed . Out of the last match against Colorado for the Brazilian Championship, the center forward lost space in recent weeks and was not related in three consecutive games, including the first leg duel at Maracanã.

Internally, the club's board is evaluating the athlete's future, as he has received inquiries from Saudi Arabian football clubs, with loan proposals rejected by the club. Previously, Juninho was close to a move to Sevilla earlier this year.

Negotiations, however, were halted after coach Filipe Luís intervened, contacting the striker to convince him to join Mengão's project. The investment was substantial: R$37.2 million to acquire the number 23, who currently has no place on the team.

JUNE NUMBERS IN 2025

In 2025, Juninho played 22 matches for Flamengo , scoring just three goals and providing no assists. He played 726 minutes that season, almost always sporadically used by Filipe Luís. In the Carioca Championship, he appeared in eight matches and scored two goals.

He has already played six times in the Brasileirão, without finding the net. In the Libertadores, he played four games and scored one goal , while in the national cups and the Club World Cup, he failed to stand out.
