Flamengo is already turning its attention to the Club World Cup, returning to training this Thursday (5) , which will be played in the United States. After the 5-0 win over Fortaleza last Sunday (01), the red-black squad will have two free weeks until the debut, scheduled for June 16 , against Espérance de Tunis (TUN).
The opening opponent, by the way, also arrives with high morale. On the same Sunday, Espérance won the Tunisian Cup by beating Stade Tunisien 1-0, with a goal from Nigerian midfielder Onuche Ogbelu. The title came less than a month after the Tunisian team lifted the national league trophy , on May 11.
On the red-and-black side, the moment is equally positive. Flamengo leads the Brazilian Championship with 24 points and is qualified for the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil and the Libertadores. On Sunday afternoon (27), Flamengo and Corinthians face each other in a duel valid for the 25th round of the Brazilian Championship . The match will be held at Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo, with the start scheduled for 8:30 pm (Brasília time).
The interstate derby will also have a special ingredient for Flamengo fans: three former Flamengo players are in the São Paulo team's lineup, along with the coach. Goalkeeper Hugo Souza, full-back Matheuzinho, defender Gustavo Henrique, and coach Dorival Júnior have all worn the Mais Querido jersey and today face off against the club that made them famous.

Flamengo leads the Brasileirão with 51 points. Cruzeiro, who lost to Vasco 2-0 on Saturday (27), is in second place with 50 points , followed by Palmeiras, in third, with 49 points, who still plays this Sunday (28) against Bahia, at 4 pm. Corinthians appears in 11th place with 29 points.
The striker has not had the sequence that was expected at Mengão after his arrival and the Série A team has him at the top of their wish list.
