Agustín Rossi reveals, during the press conference, reasons for going to train at Al Nassr (ARA) during the first half of this year. The former Boca Juniors (ARG) player was removed from the team after signing a contract with Flamengo. The Argentine wanted to stay active to enter Mengão more prepared.
Last Thursday (06), at CT Ninho do Urubu, the new Flamengo goalkeeper was officially Presented to the Press. When asked about his six months in Saudi Arabia, Rossi explained: "Boca didn't want me to train, so we thought it was the best decision to go to Saudi Arabia."
Before arriving at Rubro-Negro , Rossi had a spell at Al-Nassr on a six-month loan until the end of his contract with Boca Juniors (ARG). With a pre-contract signed with Flamengo in early 2023, the goalkeeper had lost space in the Argentine team.
At this same press conference, Agustín, and Flamengo's football director (Marcos Braz and Bruno Seidel ) commented on the difficulties presented by the player in negotiating with the Argentine team. In addition to being away from training for signing with Flamengo, the archer had to wait for months until his former club accepted a proposal. ”Yes, I was looking forward to it, but we had to wait for the 1st of July, we tried to make it earlier, but we couldn't”, said Rossi.
Rossi also told journalists how much he was looking forward to debuting on the team. For him, playing for Flamengo – at the age of 38 – is a dream come true. The goalkeeper is already regularized by the CBF to debut with the Sampaoli team.
The teams play the first game of the quarterfinals at 7 p.m.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores.

Alex Sandro and Plata, debutants in last Sunday's classic, remain in the team after having good performances in the draw against Vasco. Gabigol is now out of the relationship due to fibrosis in the posterior muscle of his right thigh. Flamengo, in a statement, reported that the athlete did not suffer any injury in the region. "The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Gabriel Barbosa underwent tests that did not diagnose an injury to the posterior muscle of his right thigh. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. Gabi is handed over to physiotherapists and physical trainers for the series of decisive games of the season."

One of Flamengo's main players in 2024, Gerson has been fundamental under Tite's command. Last Sunday (15), in a 1-1 draw with Vasco, the midfielder scored Rubro-Negro's goal and stood out once again. This year, Gerson leads the list of Serie A athletes with the most minutes on the field since returning from surgery at the beginning of the season.
In March 2024, Gerson underwent kidney surgery due to hydronephrosis, a problem kidney that kept him away from Flamengo for around a month and a half. Since his return, the athlete has participated in all 37 Flamengo matches, in addition to two more for the Brazilian National Team.

Of Flamengo's 37 games since the medical problem, Gerson started 32. The midfielder was a substitute in the first three matches of the Brasileirão, while he regained his rhythm after surgery, and was also on the bench in the duel against Botafogo, after playing 90 minutes against Bolívar (BOL) at altitude, in the group stage of the Libertadores.
After that, Gerson started 21 consecutive matches as a starter. He returned to the bench only in the game against São Paulo, in the second round of the Brasileirão return, when Tite opted for an alternative team. Gerson entered the final part of that match.
Next AppointmentWith Gerson available, Flamengo is preparing for the quarter-finals of the Libertadores. Fla will face Peñarol (URU) this Thursday (19), at 7pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã. The return game is scheduled for September 26th, at the same time, at the Campeón del Siglo Stadium, in Montevideo.
