Much has already been said about the legendary team Millonarios– Flamengo's debut rival in the CONMEBOL Libertadores this Tuesday (2), with – in the late 1940s and early 1950s. It was a squad led by star Alfredo Di Stéfano and filled with players from River Plate in a maneuver that disregarded the transfer rules of the time.

The so-called " Ballet Azul" was named as the best team in the world and gave the club the code name "Ambassador", for representing Colombian football in Europe. But the reality of the moment is different.

Millionarios has been a company club for more than a decade, what we call SAF in Brazil. And the law that made it possible to transform associative clubs into S/A arrived earlier in Colombia, more precisely in 2011. At that time, lawyer Gustavo Serpa, who lived in New York, in the United States, was convinced by friends that it would be worth investing in the club he loves and owner of the second biggest fans in the country.

So, he and 20 other partners bought the debt from an association of creditors and rescued the Millonariosde a desperate situation. In 2015, Serpa gained a partner for his business. The Âmber investment fund, owned by French businessman Joseph Oughorlian, acquired 80% of the shares and began to control the club, but kept Serpa as manager.

The lawyer became the group's executive and today also manages the club. communication group Caracol, one of the most important in Colombia, also purchased by Oughorlian. Millos then became part of an international conglomerate of clubs, as Âmber also controls Lens, from France, Zaragoza, from Spain, and Padova, from Italy. In addition to having a stake in Inter Miami (USA).

In the current Colombian season, the team has an irregular championship. They had come from seven games without winning, but gained momentum with the 3-1 victory over local rival Santa Fé last week; and with the mixed team's triumph over Fortaleza last Saturday (30). Results that restored hope of qualifying for the final stage of the national tournament.

Check out the official note in full from Arena 360 on the bidding for Maracanã:

The RNGD consortium, from Arena 360, filed an appeal to continue in the dispute for Maracanã. The group claims that the notice drawn up by the State Government lacks clarity and vehemently questions the loss of points due to the dates offered.

According to the Arena 360 board, the dates belong to the Confederations, such as the CBF, and not the clubs, and emphasizes that the call instrument does not specify how each of the competitors must prove the number of games proposed. Arena highlighted in its proposal the commitment to hold at least 70 games.

The competitor emphasizes that the notice itself mentions the Maracanã Stadium's vocation as the World Temple of Football, and that the concessionaire should make efforts to hold as many football games as possible per year. Furthermore, it states that, throughout the analysis of the proposals, the Bidding Committee conducted the work without maintaining contact with the consortium, failing to take steps to provide clarifications.

In addition to Arena 360, Maracanã para Todos consortium , formed by Vasco and WTorre, also appealed. Despite having been qualified for the next phase of the bidding, the competitor claims that the process benefited the duo Flamengo and Fluminense, current stadium managers and favorites to win the dispute, as their rivals' scores were much higher than the others.

Owner of highest revenue and one of the best squads in America, Flamengo surprisingly does not have athletes among the 10 highest paid on the continent. The list has a majority of teams from Major League Soccer (MLS), a league in the United States, and draws attention due to the presence of athletes from Palmeiras and Internacional ahead of Rubro-Negro.

According to a survey by the Copology website, specializing in football finance, and UOL, MLS teams pay six of the 10 highest salaries in the Americas. Of the four remaining players, two are from Liga MX (MEX) and two from Brasileirão.

Dudu, from Palmeiras, receives 5.4 million dollars (R$ 27.3 million) per year and is the highest salary outside the United States. Argentine Rafael Borré, from Internacional, closes the Top-10 with US$4.6 million (R$23.3 million) per year. Both have higher salaries than all Fla athletes, which has the highest salary bill in the country as it pays high standards for many players, but is still some distance away from rivals' salaries.

The highest paid player of the continent is naturally Lionel Messi, who receives 20.4 million dollars per season (R$ 111.3 million). The value, it is worth mentioning, is well below what the star received when he was at Barcelona (ESP) or Paris Saint Germain (FRA), but it is still a record for the American continent. The only athlete who exceeds 10 million dollars per year (R$ 50.8 million) is the Italian Lorenzo Insigne, from Toronto FC (CAN).

See the list of highest salaries in the Americas, in reais (R$):

1. Lionel Messi (Inter Miami) – R$8.6 million/month

2. Insigne (Toronto) – R$6.5 million/month

3. Shaqiri (Chicago Fire) – R$3.4 million/month

4. Bernardeschi (Toronto) – R$2.7 million/month

5. Driussi (Austin) – R$2.5 million/month

6. Dudu (Palmeiras) – R$2.3 million/month*

7. Héctor Herrera (Houston Dynamo) – R$2.2 million/month

8. Sergio Canales (Monterrey) – R$2.1 million/month

9. Gignac (Tigres)-R$ 1.9 million/month

10. Borré (International) – R$ 1.9 million/month
