Jorge Sampaoli has an impressive characteristic about his management of Flamengo: in 32 games, the coach has not repeated a single lineup. However, that same creativity in the distribution of players on the field does not exist when it comes to the names called up as starters. The Uruguayan has reduced the number of players used throughout the season when compared to what other coaches reveal.
Sampaoli has used 29 athletes since his arrival at Flamengo. Of these, 16 have more than 1000 minutes on the field. He has even more time on the field, with 578 minutes and with many more opportunities to enter the field already in the starting lineup. With a good ball output and great combativeness, it is expected that he will have even more space as a constant in the squad.
As for those who don't have much space in recent times, we should mention Everton Cebolinha, Pedro and Santos. Several Uruguayan newspapers covered the tie between Flamengo and Vasco this Sunday (15). Among the main vehicles, “El País” and “Montevidéu Portal” highlighted that Luiz Araújo left the classic with a possible knee injury and could be absent for Rubro-Negro in the first game of the Libertadores quarter-finals against Peñarol, next Thursday (19).
