Sesc Flamengo beat Gerdau Minas by 3 sets to 2 (23/25; 22/25; 25/21; 28/26; 15/12), this Thursday (25), and lifted the Taça Brasil trophy . The red-black team showed the power of reaction by turning the game around after losing the first two sets and ended the preparatory tournament with three wins in three matches.
The start was difficult for Flamengo , who lost the first two sets despite having tied at 23-23 in the first set. The team started on the court with Giovana, Tainara, Helena, Karina, Juju, Lorena and Laís .
The turnaround began with changes made by coach Hélio Griner: Vivian replaced Giovana, and Mikaela took Helena's place. With more aggressive serving and more efficient blocking , Flamengo grew in the game.
Highlights included the personality of outside hitter Mikaela, just 17 years old, and the development of Tainara, who became the main weapon in counterattacks. In the tiebreak, full of provocations, the Red-Blacks took the lead after the 10th point and sealed the victory with a block by Helena.
More than the title, the tournament's objective was to give the new squad a rhythm. Hélio Griner trained all the players and observed their performance under pressure. The resilience shown against Minas Gerais reinforces expectations for the season , in which Flamengo is aiming for major national titles. The only player missing was American Simone Lee, who suffered a cut on her foot and is expected to debut only in the State Championship.

After the Taça Brasil, the focus turns to the Campeonato Carioca and the Superliga Feminina . Bernardinho's team returns to the court on October 1st, when they begin their state championship against Tijuca Tênis Clube. Their national tournament debut takes place on October 20th at the TTC, against Paulistano/Barueri.
