The 1-1 draw between Vasco and Nova Iguaçu, last Sunday (10), in the semi-final of the Campeonato Carioca, became the game with the second largest paying public in Brazil in 2024: 57,295 fans paid for tickets (public total: 61,425) to watch the game at Maracanã. The game Fluminense 2 x 0 LDU, for the Recopa Sul-Americana, with 56,050 paying fans, was in second place in the ranking.

The season record continues to be held by Flamengo 3 x 0 Madureira, with 60,292 paying fans at Maracanã . In relation to the last survey, the other game to enter the ranking also involved Flamengo. The 2-0 victory over Fluminense, on the way to Carioca's semi-final, has the ninth largest audience, with 48,105 paying fans. See below:

Six of the 10 biggest audiences in 2024 belong to the Campeonato Carioca, five of which are at Maracanã. The only game in the competition in the rankings that was not held in Rio de Janeiro was Sampaio Corrêa 0 x 2 Flamengo, played in Mangueirão. In addition to the second game of the Recopa Sul-Americana, São Paulo 1 x 1 Palmeiras (Paulista), Internacional 3 x 2 Grêmio (Gaúcho) and Santos 2 x 1 São Bernardo (Paulista) are the other matches on the list.

< In this way, it is possible to see that Flamengo is the main club to collaborate with attracting audiences to watch the games live, just as happened last season. In 2023, all games with record audiences featured the Rubro-Negra Nation.

Wesley on Flamengo's possible reinforcement for Roma: "Arrascaeta would fit right in there"

While participating in a TNT Sports quiz, Wesley was asked which Flamengo player he would take to Roma. The full-back joked, "Can't it be the whole team?" When he said no, he added, " Arrascaeta would fit right in, wouldn't he ?!"

WESLEY AND ARRASCAETA'S TRAJECTORY AT FLAMENGO

The two players began playing together at Flamengo in 2022. While Arrascaeta was already a regular starter, Wesley struggled early in his career . However, he gained ground and established himself from the final stretch of 2024, under Filipe Luís.

During this period, Wesley participated in notable achievements with the Flamengo shirt : two Copa do Brasil (2022 and 2024), two Cariocas (2024 and 2025), a Libertadores (2022) and the Supercopa do Brasil (2025), being an absolute starter in the squad from 2024 onwards.

WESLEY'S CURRENT MOMENT

Currently at Roma, Wesley is also part of Carlo Ancelotti's Brazilian national team squad . The full-back started in the 3-0 victory over Chile on the 5th at Maracanã, but missed the 1-0 loss to Bolivia in El Alto.

Flamengo striker Bruno Henrique remains at the center of debate in Brazilian football . The player was accused of causing a yellow card in 2023 during a match against Santos, with the aim of favoring his brother in sports betting.

Atlético-GO president on Flamengo's Bruno Henrique: "There must be equality for everyone"

After reviewing the case, the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) imposed a 12-game suspension and a R$60,000 fine on the athlete. The decision generated controversy, as many considered the sentence lenient given the severity of the charges , especially compared to harsher sanctions applied in similar incidents in Brazil.

CRITICISM OF ATLÉTICO-GO

One of those who spoke out was Adson Batista, president of Atlético Goianiense . In an interview with Rádio Bandeirantes News, the Dragão president criticized the disparity in the Sports Court's criteria , especially compared to other cases involving betting.

"There must be equality for everyone. Why is Bruno Henrique, wearing a Flamengo jersey, different? There were players who were out for a year, two years, and did the same thing ... Unfortunately, Brazil is a country of impunity," he declared.

Adson also extended his criticism to the Brazilian judiciary and the country's political leadership: "People say, 'Oh, I believe in justice.' I have serious doubts about the judiciary today . The example we have up there is the worst possible. Unfortunately, it's our country."

Finally, the leader called for the legislature to take a greater lead: " May our parliament, our Senate, take the reins and let everyone do their part . It's not just one Supreme Court that does everything. It judges, condemns, prohibits, does whatever it wants. Unfortunately, we are governed by this entity."

CAN BRUNO HENRIQUE PLAY IN THE LIBERTADORES?

Despite the suspension, Bruno Henrique remains free to compete in the Copa Libertadores, as the punishment only applies to tournaments organized by the CBF, such as the Brasileirão and the Copa do Brasil . According to journalist Venê Casagrande, Flamengo has already decided to appeal the decision, considering the 12-game suspension excessive. Therefore, the forward remains available for the matches against Estudiantes and possible subsequent stages of the continental competition.
