The game between Flamengo and Fluminense, valid for the Brazilian Championship, not only provided moments of tension on the field, but also raised questions about the player De La Cruz's ability to adapt to the Rio red-and-black environment. While fans eagerly awaited the athlete's performance in his new team, the scene of a direct confrontation with an opponent fueled speculation about his integration into the team and his assimilation of Flamengo's characteristic style of play.
Since his arrival to the club, De La Cruz has been the target of expectations and scrutiny from fans and the sports media. His signing was seen as a bold bet by the board of Flamengo, who saw in the Uruguayan player a potential reinforcement for the squad, capable of adding technical quality and international experience to the team. However, the transition to a new environment and a new country is not always easy, especially when it comes to the demanding Brazilian football scene.

The episode involving De La Cruz and the Fluminense player during the match raised concerns about his ability to adapt to the competitive climate of Brazilian football. While some interpreted the player's attitude as a sign of determination and competitiveness, others raised questions about his temperance and ability to deal with conflict situations on the field. Given this, debates arose about the need for De La Cruz to reconcile his intensity and desire to win with respect for the rules of the game and sporting ethics.
In addition to issues related to sporting performance, De La Cruz's adaptation to the red-and-black climate also involves cultural and social aspects. As a foreign player, he faces additional challenges as he integrates into a new team and a new community. In this sense, the support of the coaching staff and teammates has been fundamental in facilitating his transition and ensuring his well-being in the club environment.

Among the players missing are Luciano Juba, Rodrigo Nestor, Santiago Arias, and Sanabria , as well as players recovering from injuries like Kanu and Erick. The situation forces Ceni to assemble a new defense and even consider potential debutants.
With so many absences, Rogério Ceni should send an alternative team to the field against Flamengo : Ronaldo; Gilberto, Fredi, Rezende and Zé Guilherme; Acevedo, Jean Lucas and Everton Ribeiro; Kayky, Iago Borduchi (or Michel Araújo, Tiago or Cauly) and Willian José.

Corinthians idol, the goalkeeper was fundamental in Mengão's title in 2020 and shone again against Rubro-Negro in the Brasileirão

One of Corinthians ' greatest idols, goalkeeper Cássio has a special chapter in Flamengo's recent history, even though he never wore the red-and-black jersey. In 2020, his performance in Corinthians' draw against Internacional was crucial in the Rio de Janeiro club's Brasileirão title victory.
In the final round of that championship, Flamengo and Internacional were neck and neck for the trophy. Flamengo lost to São Paulo at Morumbi Stadium and, to retain the trophy , depended on a slip-up from their Rio Grande do Sul rival. At Beira-Rio Stadium, Corinthians held on for a draw thanks to Cássio's saves, preventing the Colorado victory and confirming the title for Mengão.
The episode has remained etched in the memories of Flamengo fans. In a recent interaction, a Flamengo influencer reminded the goalkeeper of the feat. " You know you're a national idol, right?" he asked. In a relaxed tone, Cássio replied: "Yes, we won that title, didn't we? Two thousand and…?" The fan added: "2020 !"
Last Thursday (2), in a duel valid for the Brazilian Championship, Cássio was once again highlighted against Flamengo, now defending Cruzeiro . The goalkeeper made important saves at Maracanã , guaranteeing a goalless draw and frustrating the red-black team's search for three more points.
With no time to lament the result, Flamengo is already concentrating its efforts on the next match of the competition. This Sunday (5), the team led by Filipe Luís faces Bahia, at 6:30 pm (Brasília time), at Arena Fonte Nova, in Salvador. The match will be valid for the 27th round and will be broadcast exclusively on the Premiere channel.
