Flamengo continues without receiving the amount related to the transfer from striker Werton to Leixões,from Portugal, held in the mid-2024 transfer window. The board of directors of the Rio club, known for its financial organization, is considering calling FIFA to collect the debt, after Leixões failed to pay a portion agreed in the negotiation.
According to information obtained, the Portuguese club handled the situation calmly. A Leixões manager, in contact with journalist Venê Casagrande, commented: “Everyone in football owes it, but everyone pays. Sometimes you pay late, but you pay.”
NEGOTIATION INVOLVED 1 MILLION EUROS
The striker's transfer Werton it was closed for 1 million euros (around R$5.8 million at the exchange rate at the time). Flamengo ceded 70% of the athlete's economic rights, keeping the remaining 30% for future negotiations.
However, a portion of 175 thousand euros (approximately R$897 thousand at the current exchange rate) was not paid within the stipulated deadline. After a formal notification to Leixões on the 15th, Mais Querido did not receive the amount in the following 48 hours and is now prepared to seek a solution from FIFA.
