While São Januário is awaiting renovations, Vasco is looking for a new 'home' to host its games. So, enter Maracanã into the equation. The stadium, by law, belongs to the Government of Rio de Janeiro, but has been managed exclusively by Flamengo and Fluminense since the beginning of 2019.
According to the portal 'Lance!', Vasco did not give up on Maracanã, even though after trying for years to access the administration of this. Once again, the club reinforced its desire to participate with the FLA X FLU duo and sent a letter to the secretary of the Civil House of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Nicola Miccione.
The objective was to establish a position on the Term of Permission for Use (TPU), which gives Flamengo and Fluminense the temporary concession of Maracanã until October 23rd. The contract of the two clubs is about to end and Vasco's expectation is for a public call from the state government, opening competition so that other interested parties can participate in a new TPU.
When Flamengo and Fluminense signed the contract with the Government, they agreed to provisional terms and, since 2019, there have been eight automatic renewals of this same contract. The expectation was that the renewal would be, again, automatic with the end of the contract, but the situation may change due to Cruzmaltino.
From the point of view of the TCE (RJ State Court of Auditors) counselor, Mariana Willeman, who was rapporteur in the trial that decided to continue the Maracanã bidding process, it is necessary to open competition for a new temporary assignment. This way, Vasco can have a little more hope in future decisions regarding the management of the stadium.

Flamengo officially announced the lineup to face Estudiantes this Thursday (18), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time) , at Maracanã, for the first leg of the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals. With important returns, coach Filipe Luís is betting on maximum strength to start with an advantage in the continental clash.
