Some of Flamengo's promises will no longer be able to play in the youth categories and the club will have to look for a role for them. In total there are 11 athletes who, despite having reached their junior age, still have a contract with Rubro-Negro.

Of them, only one is on loan. This is Thiaguinho, who is currently a reserve for Sampaio Corrêa, from Maranhão, who competes in Series B. Of the names on the list, those most likely to gain space in the main team are Cleiton (defender), Igor Jesus (midfielder) and Werton (striker).

Gabriel Noga and Daniel Cabral, Mengão's defender and midfielder, need to overcome serious injury problems for 2024 to play at a high level. Other names on the list are Diegão (defender), Ocampos (right-back), Marcos Paulo (left-back), Evertton (midfielder) and Pedrinho (striker). Below is information about the current situation of the 11 and what they can still offer to Flamengo.

Gabriel Noga (2002)

Gabriel Noga, 21, has been injured since the beginning of the season. He suffered a multiligament injury to his knee and is expected to return early next year. The defender has a contract until 2024 and could impress, as the red and black defense will undergo a revamp after the end of 2023.

Werton (2003)

The 20-year-old Amazonian has a contract with Flamengo until the end of the next year. With his bold style on and off the field, Werton is successful at the academy, with a great chance of being used professionally next season. Recently, the coach of the Brazilian under-23 team invited him for a period of training before the Pan American games. The striker is very valuable for Rubro-Negro, after all, his termination fine is almost R$400 million.

Pedrinho (2003)

Werton is not the only striker on the list. Pedrinho is 20 years old and is the son of Beto, a former midfielder who shone at Flamengo in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The athlete scored ten goals in 2023 and was one of the main names in winning the Brasileirão under-20. However, the player has a contract with Flamengo until the end of the year.

Diegão (2003)

Captain of Flamengo in the under-20 Brasileirão title over Palmeiras, Diegão formed an undisputed duo with Cleiton at the base. However, the defender will no longer be able to play for the juniors, as he was born in 2003. He has a contract with Mengão until 2024.

Ocampos (2002)

Paraguayan full-back who arrived at Flamengo in 2022 to reinforce the base, Santiago Ocampos has a contract with Mais Querido until December 2024. He recently recovered from injury and can be used in the main team if Tite wants. The player turned 21 in January, that is, he has reached the junior age limit.

Evertton (2003)

Evertton will soon be 21 and will reach the youth age group. The midfielder belongs to Volta Redonda and is on loan to Flamengo until the end of the year. According to FlaZoeiro, Mais Querido is negotiating the purchase of the player.

Igor Jesus (2003)

Flamengo fans met Igor Jesus at an important moment. He rose directly from youth to professional to play in a classic. The Nation liked the midfielder, who played well in this match. Igor has 14 professional games, stands out at the base and that's why he is with the Brazilian team at the Pan. The player is 20 years old, has a contract with Fla until 2025 and should receive more opportunities in the main team. His fine is more than R$260 million.

Marcos Paulo (2003)

The left-back has six professional games for Flamengo. He suffered a serious injury in the first half of the current season, which is why he hasn't played since June. Marcos Paulo's contract ends at the end of 2023. He will turn 21 in January and will reach the base age. If Tite wants, the left-back can renew with Mengão, as the sector must be reformulated in view of the likely departure of Filipe Luís.

Cleiton (2003)

In addition to Noga and Diegão, Cleiton is also a defender to watch for the first team next year. The 20-year-old player has already received proposals from São Paulo, Bahia and Coritiba, but remains at Flamengo, with a contract until 2025. Like Werton, the defender was invited to assist in the training of the Brazilian under-23 team before the Pan, in which Igor Jesus was called up.

Daniel Cabral (2002)

Daniel Cabral is going through a difficult time, the midfielder who was under-17 world champion with Lázaro and Noga in 2019, but does not play since 2022 due to a serious injury to his right knee. He is already 21 years old, can no longer play for the base, and his contract with Mengão runs until October 2025.

Thiaguinho (2001)

Do you remember him? Flamengo bought him in December 2019 after standing out at Náutico. However, Thiago Fernandes did not establish himself at Flamengo and went through a series of loan spells. Since signing a contract with Rubro-Negro, he has been loaned to Náutico, Houston Dynamo-USA, CSA and is now at Sampaio Corrêa-MA. The 22-year-old player will return to Mengão at the end of this year, the club he has a contract with until 2025.

"Respect is the feeling..." Flamengo has Tite's words echoed behind the scenes with the fans

In an interview given after the defeat of Flamengoto Peñarol, 1-0, coach Tite was direct in responding to the boos received by the fans. The statement, marked by a frank tone, exposed the coach's pragmatic vision in relation to demanding fans and the pressure for results. “I respect the fans’ feelings. Of course I feel that (the boos), I'm human”, said Tite, recognizing the fans' frustration in the face of the setback.

Tite's speech reveals that he understands the role of fans as a fundamental part in the context of a club, especially in a team of great expression like Flamengo. By mentioning that the boos affect him as a human being, the coach demonstrates empathy, but does not fail to highlight that the only way to reverse this situation is with achievements on the field. “It can only be reversed in one way”, pointed out the coach.

THE MISTAKE THAT COSTED EXTREMELY DEARLY

The response reflects the experience of Titein dealing with pressure who follows the command of great teams in Brazilian football. With successful spells at clubs such as Corinthians, Grêmio and the Brazilian national team itself, the coach has a track record that puts him in a position to understand, perhaps like few others, the relationship between performance on the field and fans' expectations. For him, this connection is clear: “Do you know how to win fans? Do you know how I won over the fans of the other clubs I played for? Win an important title”, he declared.

The phrase highlights the centrality of titles in football, especially in mass clubs like Flamengo. In Brazil, the culture of results is intense, and Tite recognizes that fans have a limited tolerance for negative results. Winning titles, for him, is the key to gaining the support of the fans, and anything other than that results in discontent: “If not, bye.”

This last part of Tite's speech summarizes the characteristic impatience of demanding fans like Flamengo. The coach makes it clear that, without obtaining relevant trophies, the relationship with the fans deteriorates quickly. The pressure is constant and is part of the daily life of those who take on the leadership of top teams. Tite seems, however, to be aware of this scenario and how it needs to be faced.

Tite's statement came after a delicate moment for Flamengo. The defeat to Peñarol, at home, in a group stage match of the Copa Libertadores, raised alarm bells for fans and the coaching staff. Flamengo had high expectations for the season, especially after major reinforcements and the arrival of Tite, a coach with wide recognition on the national and international scene.

The pressure on Flamengo is nothing new. The club, which has one of the biggest fans in the world, is known for its high expectations for titles. The expensive squad, made up of renowned players, also increases this demand. Each stumble is widely covered by the media and amplifies the dissatisfaction of part of the fans, who demand immediate results.

CAN IT GO BAD AT THE MOMENT?

The Copa Libertadores, in particular, has a important meaning for Flamengo and its fans. The continental tournament is seen as one of the club's main objectives each season. Any result other than victory can generate dissatisfaction and pressure on the technical committee, as occurred after the setback against Peñarol.

In this context, Tite's speech not only recognizes the fans' dissatisfaction, but also is realistic in relation to what is expected from a club like Flamengo. The demand for titles is part of the package when taking over a club of this size, and the coach seems to be aware of this when he points out that he will only be able to win the support of the fans with significant victories.

The possible signing of Andrew Pereira is part of Flamengoto seek young promises on the international market to reinforce its youth categories. The club has increasingly invested in training new talents, with the expectation that these players could, in the future, join the professional squad or yield good results in possible negotiations.

Flamengo's interest in Andrew Pereira also aligns with the club's policy of diversifying the nationalities of its base players, expanding the range of South American talents who can bring different characteristics and playing styles to the team. The choice of a Venezuelan player, playing in Argentina, highlights DSFLA's wide observation network and ability to identify young people with potential in markets that are often little explored by other major Brazilian clubs.

FLAMENGO THERE IS A NEW INVESTMENT

Although there is no formal proposal yet, Flamengo has already started to analyze the necessary conditions for the deal to come to fruition. This includes a financial assessment, in addition to understanding Newell's Old Boys' expectations regarding a possible negotiation. The Argentine club, which traditionally trains and sells young talents to the international market, may see Andrew Pereira as an opportunity to make a good deal.

The arrival of Andrew Pereira at Flamengo would, without a doubt, be an addition interesting for the red and black base, which already has other promising young people in its squad. The club's objective is that, with time and adequate development, Andrew can become an option for the main team, following the path of other athletes who started in the youth categories and are now highlights in Brazilian and international football.
