The 2023 season has not been a good one for Flamengo fans. However, even with the team's poor performance on the field, Nação Rubro Negra, once again, showed its greatness in the stands. This is because Mais Querido is the Serie A team that brought the most fans as visitors to the stadiums in the Brazilian Championship.

Flamengo still dreams of the Brazilian Championship title, however, Rubro Negro occupies fifth place in the league table. With 36 points to be played, Mais Querido's distance from leader Botafogo is 11 points (44 x 55, respectively).

Now with the arrival of the new coach, Tite, Rubro Negro will be able to dream bigger and try to compete the Brazilian Championship title against Botafogo. Mais Querido's newest coach will have seven days to get to know and prepare the team for the next match.

Flamengo's next match will be as a visitor, it will be the game against Cruzeiro, on the day October 19th (Thursday), valid for the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship. The match will also mark Tite's debut in charge of Rubro Negro.

Last Wednesday (18), representatives from Flamengo and Caixa Econômica Federal held another meeting to resolve the impasse surrounding the Gasologista land, acquired by the club in July. The meeting had the support of Rio de Janeiro City Hall and the Attorney General's Office (AGU), and a new meeting scheduled for next week, in Brasília, could seal the definitive agreement. The information was released by journalist Diogo Dantas, from the newspaper "O Globo".

Mengão's board of directors, represented by president Rodolfo Landim, vice-general Rodrigo Dunshee, CEO Reinaldo Belotti and vice-president of equity Marcos Bodin, was optimistic about the possibility of a solution soon. Caixa questions the amount paid by the club at the land auction, but everything indicates that an additional amount could resolve the legal conflict by next month.

INVOLVEMENT OF THE CITY OF RIO

The meeting was also attended by deputy Pedro Paulo and the club's director of external relations, Cacau Cotta, who have acted as intermediaries between the club and the mayor from Rio, Eduardo Paes. In August, a meeting involving the bank's president, Carlos Vieira, president Lula and mayor Eduardo Paes had already signaled the path to an agreement.

IMPORTANCE OF THE AGREEMENT FOR FLAMENGO

Mais Querido's director of external relations, Cacau Cotta, highlighted that the agreement is the ideal way to give peace of mind to the club. "For the club, a good agreement is always better than an eternal discussion about values. The land has already been expropriated. The agreement is ideal to eliminate any doubts and for Flamengo to have the necessary peace of mind to begin the work", said Cotta.

This Thursday (19), Flamengo hosts Peñarol (URU) at Maracanã, at 7pm (Brasília time), in a match valid for the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores da América. In search of a good advantage for the second leg, coach Tite will have to deal with several important absences in the red and black squad.

Peñarol coach, Diego Aguirre, defined the starting lineup for the match decisive. With no important absences, the Uruguayan team takes to the field with: Aguerre; Léo Coelho, Javier Méndez, Guzmán Rodríguez; Pedro Milans, Eduardo Darías, Damián García, Javier Cabrera, Léo Fernández, Maximiliano Olivera; and Maximiliano Silvera.

Aguirre will have almost his entire squad at his disposal. The only player out of the match is Damian Suarez, who has not yet had his name regularized after his recent arrival at the Uruguayan club. However, Suarez's absence is not a concern, as the coach has a complete squad for the clash against Mengão. b>

On the other hand, Mais Querido has to deal with six confirmed absences. Cebolinha, Pedro, Luiz Araújo, Gabigol, Michael and Viña are out of the match, all due to injuries. These absences complicate the formation of coach Tite, who will have to adjust the team to seek a good result playing at home.

Owning the assist for Gerson's goal in the draw with Vasco, last Sunday, Arrascaeta is approaching a historic milestone in the Brazilian Championship. With the assist he provided, the Uruguayan equaled Dudu and is just nine passes behind Marcelinho Carioca, potentially becoming the greatest assist in the history of the competition.

With 68 assists, Arrascaeta is ahead of names like Scarpa , Everton Ribeiro and Zico in statistics. Playing in Brazilian football since 2015, when he arrived at Cruzeiro, the midfielder has already played 218 matches in the Brazilian Championship, 50 of which were assists with the Flamengo shirt. b>

Arrascaeta stands out not only for his assists, but also for his goals. With 55 goals scored, 36 with the Flamengo shirt, the Uruguayan has remained among the best players in the championship since his debut at Cruzeiro.

Champion in 2019 and 2020, the midfielder has been in three of the last five “ideal teams” in the championship. He is currently the third foreigner with the most goals in Brazilian football this century, with 113 goals, behind only Cano and Paolo Guerrero.
