After Mais Querido qualified for the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil, Marcos Braz, the club's vice-president of football, spoke again about Gabigol's future. The striker's contract with Flamengo ends at the end of this year, and negotiations for renewal have not progressed. Braz, in an interview in the mixed zone after the victory over Bahia at Maracanã, highlighted that the player's permanence is uncertain.

"It's not at all impossible, but, unfortunately, today it's unlikely," said the leader, making it clear that the renewal process is facing difficulties.

DROPPED INCOME AND EXIT SPECULATIONS

Gabigol, who was a key player in Mengão's important achievements, has suffered a drop in performance since the end of last year. This more discreet performance ended up resulting in a loss of space in the starting team. During the current season, rumors of a possible transfer arose, with Corinthians and Palmeiras showing interest in having the striker in São Paulo football.

However, with Pedro's recent injury, he will be absent for a period considerable, Gabigol may have a new opportunity to stand out. Braz emphasized that the player is fully aware of his responsibility and the chances that lie ahead. "Gabriel is not a child. He knows he will have new chances. If Pedro was in his best shape, perhaps he would have fewer opportunities", added the vice-president.

FLAMENGO DOES NOT PLAN IMMEDIATE REINFORCEMENTS

In addition to talking about Gabigol's future, Marcos Braz made it clear that Flamengodoes not intend to invest in reinforcements at this time. The club's expectation is that the striker can take advantage of his chances and return to being a key player in the red and black attack, as has happened on other occasions.

"Gabriel has helped us many times, and I have sure that he will help us again", said Braz, showing confidence in the number 9's performance.

With Mengão focused on the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil and the competitions that still remain in the season, the fans are waiting to see how Gabigol will do in the next matches, especially with Pedro's absence.
