This Friday (18), Flamengo's under-20 team will play an international friendly against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, from Germany, in Gávea, at 2:30 pm (Brasília time). The match will be broadcast live on Flamengo TV and is part of the German team's preparation, which is carrying out its pre-season in Rio de Janeiro.

For the first time, a Bundesliga club has chosen South America as its preseason destination. Bayer Leverkusen will use Mengão's training center, Ninho do Urubu, as its training base until July 23rd . The choice of location reinforces the German club's historic relationship with Brazilian football.

The two teams have faced each other twice in history, both during the Kirin Cup in Japan in 1988. In the most iconic match, "Mais Querido" won 1-0 at the Tokyo National Stadium , with a goal by Zico , winning the competition. In another duel in the same tournament, the score was 1-1, with a goal by Edinho.

BAYER LEVERKUSEN AND THE LONG HISTORY

Since 1987, more than 20 Brazilian players have worn the Bayer 04 jersey, including idols like Paulo Sérgio – considered an official club legend – as well as Emerson, Lúcio, Jorginho, and Zé Roberto. Currently, full-back Arthur, a Bundesliga and World Cup champion in 2024, represents the country on the German team.

THE MATCH WILL NOT HAVE TICKETS FOR SALE

The friendly between Mengão's U-20 team and Bayer Leverkusen will be held behind closed doors . The only way to watch the match will be via live digital broadcast on Flamengo TV.

Striker Robinho Jr, son of former player Robinho, was included in the list of players related by coach Cléber Xavier for the game between Santos and Flamengo , valid for the Brazilian Championship, this Wednesday (16). The 17-year-old is starting to gain space among Peixe's professionals and promises to be one of the club's bets for the future.

Robinho Jr had a prominent role in the friendly against Desportiva Ferroviária, held in Cariacica, when Santos won 3-1. Playing for a few minutes, the striker provided an assist for Diego Pituca's goal , which defined the score of the match.

In training ahead of the match against Flamengo , Robinho Jr. drew attention with two free kicks that found the top corner and went viral on the club's social media. The shots even earned praise from Neymar, who expressed enthusiasm for the young prospect's performance.

SON OF A FORMER STAR

A product of Santos ' youth academy, Robinho Jr. wore the number seven jersey in the friendly , a number his father immortalized at the club. Despite his young age, he had already been named in the first team squad in February of this year, in the match against Noroeste in the Campeonato Paulista, but did not actually take the field.

FLAMENGO X SANTOS

This Wednesday (16), Santos and Flamengo face off in the 14th round of the Brazilian Championship Series A. The match will be played at 8 pm (Brasília time), at Vila Belmiro, with exclusive broadcast by Premiere.

Striker Michael may be leaving Flamengo this transfer window. The player has received a loan offer from Al-Ula, a Saudi Arabian second division club. The club is internally discussing the terms of the deal, which includes a R$14 million payment for the one-year loan, plus a R$22 million buyout clause at the end of the contract.

According to the investigation, the decision is in the hands of the club's football department , which has not yet decided whether or not to accept the proposal. The financial offer and contractual terms are being analyzed so that the club can make the best technical and commercial decision.

STRIKER OUT OF THE MATCH

Around the same time that rumors about the negotiations emerged, Michael was withdrawn from the squad for the match against Santos. According to an official statement from the club, " Michael felt pain in his ankle and remained in Rio de Janeiro for treatment." The absence, although justified by physical issues, increased speculation about his departure.

MICHAEL SEES AN UNCERTAIN FUTURE

In his second stint with Mengão, Michael played 40 matches, scored six goals, provided five assists , and lifted three trophies. However, he lost his place under coach Tite. His last start was in May, and since then, he has appeared only four times, always coming off the bench.

It's worth noting that the player previously played in Arab football , where he had a notable stint with Al-Hilal . Therefore, the athlete still has a market in the Saudi world, which is likely to be his destination during the transfer window.
