Flamengo and Fluminense enter the field this Saturday (16) for a place in the final of the Campeonato Carioca. This Thursday (14), the Football Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FERJ) defined the refereeing of the classic. This way, Wagner Nascimento Magalhães will be responsible for leading the semifinal game. The news ended up causing some concern for fans of both teams. This is because the referee has already been involved in some dramas in past classics. Remember some of these situations here:
CELEBRATION AND CONTROVERSIES IN 2017
In the 2017 Campeonato Carioca final, decided in Fla x Flu, Wagner do Nascimento was accused by Tricolor fans of celebrating a goal by Paolo Guerrero in favor of Rubro -Black. The referee denied that he had made any festive gesture, saying that he only pointed to the center of the pitch to validate Flamengo's goal.
In the same final, Fluminense also complained about two more moments about the game. In one of them, the Tricolor fans saw a foul by Rever on Henrique in Flamengo's equalizing goal, which was not called by the referee.
In addition, the Goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri was sent off in the match, and in the winning goal, the defender of Fluminense's goal was full-back Orejuela.
EXPULSION OF GABIGOL IN 2020
In another Fla x Flu decision in Carioca, this time in 2020, Wagner do Nascimento angered the Rubro-Negra fans by giving a red card to Gabigol, at the end of the match, when the attacker was almost on the touchline to be replaced. The referee claimed that the player was ready to leave, already that Flamengo was winning the game.
PENALTY IN GAME AGAINST VASCO IN 2019
In 2019, in a classic against Vasco, Flamengo felt harmed by the referee once again. At the time, Rubro-Negro was winning the game, until, in the last play of the second half, following a contact between Marrony and Thuler in the area, Wagner do Nascimento scored a penalty, which allowed Maxi López tied the match. Many people, however, did not understand the contact as foul, as it would not have been strong enough to constitute a penalty.
WAGNER HAS ALREADY BEEN SUSPENDED
In March 2018, Wagner do Nascimento was punished by the Paraíba Football Sports Court (TJDF-PB) with 30 days of suspension for having been omitted from the summary of the game between Treze and Botafogo, in the state semifinal. At the time, the referee did not report a disturbance involving the police and Treze fans.
