Midfielder Andreas Pereira conceded press conferencethis Wednesday (5), in Orlando, United States, where the Brazilian team is training for friendlies against Mexico and the USA, but mainly for the Copa América. The former Flamengo player once again mentioned Rubro-Negro in his answers. This time, the Fulham athlete said that relationships at Fla helped him to be where he is today.

In the first response, Andreas recalled the moment after the failure in the 2021 Copa Libertadores final, which cost the club the title Flamengo. One character was very important for Andreas to move forward:

“It started with Dorival at Flamengo. He was the first coach who helped me. He lifted me up a lot. He helped me lift my head. In England, Fulham coach Marco Silva helped me a lot. So, thanks to these people and my family, today I am here in the national team.”

Then, Andreas Pereira stated that the rapport with his midfield teammates in the national team has a lot to do with Flamengo. The midfielder said: “I already knew João Gomes from Flamengo and Paquetá also came from there, so there was that connection. There are more Diogo and Bruno Guimarães. We went to Disney together and had a great time. It's great to have this friendship in the Seleção.”

Andreas Pereira returns to talk about Flamengo after controversial story

To conclude the press conference regarding Flamengo, Andreas Pereira spoke again about Dorival's importance, in 2022: “He helped me a lot at a time when I really needed it. I will always carry in my heart how important he was in my career. I was very happy with him in the national team and now I have to do my best to repay what he did for me.”

Andreas Pereira played for Flamengo between 2021 and 2022. The midfielder now at Fulham started well and became starter for Renato Gaúcho's team, but slipped and lost the ball to Deyverson, in the 2021 Libertadores final. Fla even thought about buying the athlete from Manchester United, but gave up under pressure from the fans.

Victory to respect

Despite being a competition to open the season, Flamengo's victory gives a boost to the season. After all, Minas is the team to beat in Brazilian women's volleyball. Thus, in the last five Superligas, the Belo Horizonte team won four titles and one runner-up. In the squad, there are athletes who have played for the Brazilian team, such as Thaísa, Olympic champion and bronze medalist in this year's edition, in Paris.

Superliga

The dates of the Women's Super League have not yet been announced. However, there is an expectation that the competition will start in October. In total, 12 teams will play the tournament, in a round-robin system, with the eight best qualifying for the quarter-finals.

In the last edition, after all, Flamengo was eliminated by Praia Clube in the semi-final . Therefore, the goal for 2024/25 is to reach the decision and repeat the title won in 2000/01, when Rubro-Negro beat Vasco, in a historic decision at the Ginásio do Maracanãzinho.

What will the Super Mundial be like?

< The competition organized by FIFA will be played for the first time with 32 teams next year. The top two in each group will advance to the round of 16. The knockout stage will be played in a single game.

The places are divided into: 12 for Europe, six for South America, four for Asia, Africa and North, Central America and the Caribbean, one for Oceania and one for the host country.

Even off the field, Flamengo continues to be remembered. In the third phase of the English Cup, this Tuesday (17), Fulham (ING) faced Preston (ING) wearing a red and black uniform, and sent a message to the Rio club.

Through social networks, Fulham published: “Back in black and red”, which in Portuguese means “Back to red and black”. In addition to the phrase, the English club shared a photo of striker Rodrigo Muniz wearing the uniform that refers to Flamengo. This generated a wave of comments from Mengão fans on the Fulham page. FLAMENGO FANS ASK TO EXCHANGE MUNIZ FOR CARLINHOS

After the publication, fans red-blacks "invaded" Fulham's social networks asking for Rodrigo Muniz's return. Many comments suggested replacing the striker with Carlinhos, another player loved by the fans.

Rodrigo Muniz, who began his career in football with Flamengo, was signed by Fulham in 2021 after good performances for the Rio club. Although he faced difficulties establishing himself in the English team and was loaned to Middlesbrough (ING), the young striker stood out after his return and is now one of the team's important players.

FULHAM ELIMINATED ENGLISH LEAGUE CUP

Despite using the colors red and black, Fulham were unable to overcome Preston. The game ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time, and the place was decided on penalties. However, the team of Andreas Pereira and Rodrigo Muniz ended up wasting the 17th penalty and was eliminated from the competition.
