Flamengo's behind-the-scenes remain agitated due to elections that will take place in December this year. After the club's General Assembly set the date for a Monday, Maurício Gomes de Mattos, one of the candidates, criticized the decision on the event and called the act 'anti-democratic'.

“Limiting the participation of members in elections is a step backwards. Flamengo belongs to all of us! Facilitating voting is strengthening democracy and ensuring a fairer future for the club. Let's build an even better and bigger Flamengo together!”, said Maurício Gomes de Mattos on X, formerly Twitter.

— Friends, I just received some regrettable news. The election in Flamengo, which in recent editions was held on Saturdays, this time will be called for a Monday by the president of the General Assembly. In an undemocratic act, which does not help the partner and does not benefit those who wish to participate in the election, I ask that he reconsider for the good of the process, for the good of democracy and for the good of the election. Red and black greetings — commented Maurício Gomes de Matos in a video.
