On Sunday afternoon (25), Flamengo beat Fluminense by a score of 2-0. However, one of the topics of the press conference was the coach's first interview Tite after a Carioca game. After Rubro Negro's victory in the competition's debut, over Audax, the coach said that the Rio state tournament is the most difficult in Brazil. The gaúcho has already had to explain himself on other occasions and, again, after the classic.

"I expressed myself badly and got hit hard. Fair enough. When I wanted to say that Carioca was more difficult, it was the moment of the big four in in relation to São Paulo, not in the whole context. I didn't express myself well. But Flamengo has great power, Botafogo who was on the verge of the title, Fluminense champion of the Libertadores and Vasco on the rise", said Tite.

“And in comparison to the moment of the greats in São Paulo, it is more difficult. But also, some time ago, when Nova Iguaçu started to score a series of points, we did a circle: “Attention, we have to score, grow in the table because there's a team putting pressure on. Soon someone big will be left." That's left. Thanks to Nova Iguaçu for their work", added Tite.

SECOND TIME REDEMPTING HIS SPEAKING

On February 4th, coach Tite was also asked about the phrase said on January 17th. Therefore, after the 0-0 draw with Vasco, the coach responded “that he made a partial mention and did not put it into context”. Furthermore, the commander of More Querido said that, at the time, São Paulo's big four were "returning to their best" and that's why he scored Carioca as main.

FLAMENGO SITUATION IN CARIOCA

Therefore, after a victory against Fluminense, Mais Querido took the lead of the Guanabara Cup table once and for all and secured the titleof the first round. Furthermore, Rubro Negro will also have the advantage of a draw in the semi-final and final against Carioca.

The next and final match of the Guanabara Cup will be on Saturday (02), against Madureira. The game will start at 4pm, at Maracanã and will be broadcast live on Band (open TV) and the GOAT channel, YouTube.

Check it out:

O Flamengohas not lifted a Carioca Championship title since 2021. In total, there were two seasons of seeing Fluminense prevail in the finals and keep the trophy . Now, Mais Querido has 38 titles in the competition. However, the Rubro-Negro board has a lot to do with this.

Right after Flamengo in front of Palestino, Tite held a press conference and spoke about priorities for the season. The coach is waiting, for example, for contact with the Red and Black board to understand whether to prioritize the Brasileirão or the Libertadores. However, he drew attention when he mentioned the behind-the-scenes information about the latest matches.

TITE REVEALS THAT THE BOARD HAS PRIORIZED CARIOCA

After scoring a wide score of 3 to 0 in the first game of the Carioca final, it was expected that Tite would spare half of the squad in the second leg with the Libertadores in mind. However, the coach, even after the players had an exhausting sequence, selected all the starters in the second game.

This is because Marcos Braz, Rodolfo Landim and Bruno Spindel wanted to win the State and asked Tite prioritize the tournament. Thus, the coach did not give the athletes a rest following a request from the board of Mais Querido.

“It's sitting down to see what the management also wants. You have to be in tune. We established, when the management stated: our priority is to win the Carioca Championship. Bruno Spíndel, Marcos (Braz) put it, the president put it, the vice put it. We talk about this in the locker room”, reveals Tite.

FOCUS ON THE DEBUT OF THE BRAZILIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Now, with the entire squad available, Tite will focus on the activities for Rubro-Negro’s debut in the Brasileirão. Flamengo debuts in the competition next Sunday (14), at 4pm, against Atlético GO, at the Serra Dourada Stadium.
