Filipe Luís began the journey of his big dream: to be a football coach, this Saturday (9), when he officially debuted in charge of Flamengo sub-17. After making history as a player, the new commander of Mais Querido will attempt the feat as a coach.

With an observant look and always communicative with the Garotos do Ninho, Filipe Luís watched Flamengo's performance against Cabofriense with very proud. Rubro Negro won 5-1, with three goals scored in the first half.


After a great game from his team, Filipe Luís gave an interview to FlaTV and confessed to being nervous before the game. The idol of Rubro Negro also took the opportunity to praise the commitment of Garotos do Ninho in training and their application in this Saturday's game (9).


“Whenever I step on the pitch , whether inside or outside, gives me butterflies in my stomach. It's always a special moment. It was really good, the boys put into practice everything we had been working on and saying during the week. This group is very good, because they obey and believe in things”, said the now coach of Flamengo Sub-17.

FEET ON THE GROUND AND THINGS TO BE RIGHTED

Even after beating the Opponent, Filipe Luís remained grounded and did not fail to point out that improvements needed to be made: “Obviously, I have a lot of things to correct and improve. It was a very good victory, especially for Cristian, who is returning from an injury of almost nine months”, he recalled.

In this way, Mais Querido returns to the field next Saturday (16 ), against Volta Redonda, in the second round of the Copa Rio under-17. Then, on the 23rd, Filipe Luís will have his first classic ahead of Rubro Negro, against Vasco.

The Under-17 Boys from the Nest return to the field this Thursday (19), at 3pm, to face Fluminense in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship. The match will be played in Gávea and will be broadcast live on SporTV.

Led by coach Eduardo Zuma, the red-black team arrives at the clash after winning four victories in the last five games. In the final round of the first phase, Mengão beat Corinthians 5-0, securing third place in group A, with 15 points. There were five wins in nine games and 19 goals scored, the second best attack in the group.


IMPORTANCE OF THE VICTORY IN THE FIRST GAME

Midfielder Lucas Vieira highlighted the relevance of the result in the first match of the quarterfinals. "Important game. I think it's always good to come away with a victory in the first game, especially at home. And try to make history by winning the Brazilian Under-17 Championship", said Vieira about the decisive classic.


RECENT RETROSPECT BETWEEN THE TEAMS

In 2024, Flamengo and Fluminense faced each other only once. The duel took place in the first phase of the Copa Rio, when Mengão beat their rival 3-0 in Xerém. In that match, Douglas Telles scored two goals, while Pablo scored a great free kick from midfield. Now, the teams meet again in the Under-17 Brasileirão, with qualification for the semifinals at stake.

Therefore, Flamengo did not want to waste time and renewed the athlete, increasing the termination fine to 70 million euros (R$ 426 million) with a contract until 2029.


JOSHUA'S RENEWAL

Joshua signed a new contract with Flamengo this past Tuesday (17). Thus, the young midfielder already has his second professional contract with Rubro-Negro. Before this happened, the player was champion with the Most Wanted of the Copa Rio under-17 against Vasco.

Making the title of jewel worth it, Joshua was once again decisive for Rubro-Negro. This is because, with the match approaching the end, the midfielder took responsibility and scored Mais Querido's second goal, leaving the score in favor at 2 to 1.

Throughout his time in Mais Querido's youth categories, Joshua has scored more than 100 goals. In the last under-17 match, the midfielder scored against Vasco on two occasions and, in addition, provided an assist. The number 10 was also chosen as the competition's top scorer.

CHANGES IN THE CALENDAR AND POSTPONENT OF ANOTHER CLASSIC

Previously, the Flamengo was going to face Vasco this weekend, however, FERJ postponed the game until May 1st. This is because heavy rains were forecast for Rio de Janeiro. Therefore, the city hall declared a state of alert and attention. Last Friday (23), for example, the day became optional and many schools did not have classes.

The matches are valid for the Copa Rio Sub-17, the first competition that Filipe Luís competes in as coach of the under-17s of Rubro Negro. The former player will have a great mission, as he will try to defend the title won by the team in 2023.

FERJ RESCHEDULES OTHER FLAMENGO MATCHES

In addition to rescheduling the match of the sub- 17, FERJ also rescheduled other Flamengo under-15 and under-20 games, all for the Copa Rio. Highlighting that the teams would take to the field this weekend.

Now, for the under-20 , Flamengo x Madureira will face each other next Wednesday (27), at 10am. The under-15s would also face Vasco, but the match was rescheduled for May 1st, at 9:00 am.
