Botafogo and São Paulo are tied and the decision of Flamengo's possible opponent will be decided next week

As a result, the classic between Botafogo and Flamengo next Sunday will be more than just a clash between two rival teams.

0The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) decided not to respond to Botafogo's request and confirmed the selection of referee Raphael Claus to referee this Sunday's classic (28), against Flamengo, at Maracanã. The sports entity's decision comes after the black and white club requested the replacement of the São Paulo referee due to alleged involvement in manipulation of results, mentioned during the Football CPI held this week.
Renan Moura, sports reporter, disclosed the information about the CBF's decision on its social network, highlighting the refusal of Botafogo's request and the maintenance of Raphael Claus as referee of the confrontation. The black and white board's request is based on reports during the Football CPI, where John Textor mentioned possible mistakes made by Claus, suggesting possible involvement in match manipulation.
Botafogo's request generated heated discussions and debates in the sporting world, with some fans and members of the press questioning the suitability of the designated referee for the classic. However, the CBF chose to maintain the initial decision, reiterating its confidence in the integrity of Raphael Claus and the impartiality of his performance.
Claus' choice to officiate the classic between Botafogo and Flamengo is not new in the Brazilian football scene. The referee from São Paulo is recognized for his experience and competence, having played in several highly relevant matches on the national and international scene. However, the allegations presented during the Football CPI raised questions about his professional conduct.
In light of the CBF's decision, Botafogo continues to prepare for the clash against Flamengo, seeking to concentrate its efforts on technical preparation and tactics for the important duel at Maracanã. The club's board has not yet made a public statement following the confirmation of Raphael Claus as referee for the match, but it is expected that the topic will continue to be debated behind the scenes in Brazilian football.
