Despite almost three years since Arrascaeta's brilliant and disconcerting move on former player Carlos Alberto, the subject is still hot. The Uruguayan Flamengo player defended himself against the former athlete, revealing that it was nothing personal and even joked about the situation.

I love Carlinhos! Like I said, it was nothing personal, it was a play that happened at a certain moment, I just don't think about what I'm going to do... He came, he's going to say it wasn't a penalty, but... things happen, ” said Arrascaeta, in an interview with the channel 'Desimpedidos'.

CARLOS ALBERTO ALWAYS GETS IRRITATED WHEN TALKING ABOUT THE PEN

Whenever the subject of Arrascaeta 's pen comes up again, Carlo Alberto gets angry. Furthermore, in August of last year, the former player appealed after punching a fan on the beach. The red-and-black player made a provocation in reference to the dribbling of Flamengo's number 10. For this gesture, the former athlete ended up being fired from Band, where he worked.

Thus, in order to minimize Arrascaeta's achievement, Carlos Alberto uses the argument that he is a Champions League and world champion with Porto (POR). He also makes fun of the fact that the midfielder never shone in Europe, where the best players in the world would be.

ABOUT THAT...

While Carlos Aberto continues to cry over the past, Arrascaeta remains focused on the present and future. The Mais Querido midfielder returns to the field this Sunday (25), in a match against Palmeiras, valid for the 10th round of the Brasileirão.

Flamengo continues expanding its facilities at CT George Helal, also known as Ninho do Urubu. The club has begun construction on its 11th training ground , which will be used by the professional squad led by Filipe Luís.

To begin the project, Rubro-Negro requested a permit from the Rio de Janeiro City Hall to demolish a house and a single floor on a 10,000-square-meter plot of land recently acquired for R$4.5 million. The deadline for demolition is up to one year.

OTHER PROJECTS AT CT

Ninho do Urubu's expansion plan doesn't stop there. In addition to the new field, Flamengo also purchased a 20,000-square-meter plot of land behind the training center , where construction has already begun on two youth-focused fields—one full-size and the other smaller.

With this, the facility will now have 13 soccer fields. Another highlight is the completion of the mini-stadium, which will host youth and women's soccer matches after the installation of stands and locker rooms. Construction is already underway.

NEXT APPOINTMENT

On the field, Flamengo returns to play next Sunday (14), at 4 pm (Brasília time), against Juventude, at Alfredo Jaconi , in Caxias do Sul, for the 23rd round of the Brazilian Championship. Mengão is the leader of the Brasileirão with 47 points, three more than Cruzeiro, with one game less compared to the Minas Gerais team.

Flamengo has officially filed an appeal with the Superior Court of Justice (STJD) against Bruno Henrique's 12-game suspension . The club has also requested a stay of execution, allowing the striker to be released pending a new trial in the second instance before the full court.

The expectation is to count on the number 27 next Sunday (14), against Juventude, at 4 pm (Brasília time), at Alfredo Jaconi, for the 23rd round of the Brasileirão . The information was published by the newspaper O Globo. The decision on the request should come out this Wednesday (10), and coach Filipe Luís will be informed whether or not he can include the player for the trip to Caxias do Sul.

WHAT'S AT STAKE?

Bruno Henrique was found guilty by the 1st disciplinary committee of the Superior Court of Justice (STJD), accused of forcing a yellow card in 2023 to benefit gamblers. The conviction sparked debate, and Flamengo believes it has solid arguments to reverse the decision .

Flamengo lawyer on Bruno Henrique case: "Penalties per match must be served in the same championship in which they occurred"

During the trial, rapporteur Dr. Alcino Guedes argued that the suspension should also apply to international tournaments, such as the Copa Libertadores. In this case, Bruno would miss matches against Estudiantes and potential semifinals on October 22nd and 29th . However, lawyer Michel Assef Filho, who represents the striker, ruled out this possibility:

"There was a request to extend this punishment, which is completely unfounded. The Brazilian Code of Sports Justice is very clear: penalties per match must be served in the same championship in which they occurred . In this case, the Brasileirão ," the lawyer stated. Despite this, according to the GE, FIFA could extend the effects to international competitions if the STJD took action against the CBF.

THE GAMES THAT BRUNO HENRIQUE WOULD LOSE

Until the decision is made, the striker remains suspended for the following matches:

  1. 14/09 – Juventude x Flamengo (Brazilian Championship)
  2. 21/09 – Flamengo x Vasco (Brazilian Championship)
  3. 28/09 – Corinthians x Flamengo (Brazilian Championship)

  10. 05/11 – Sao Paulo vs Flamengo (Brazilian Championship)
