Santos has begun talks to sign Victor Hugo, a midfielder who came through Flamengo's ranks and is currently out of position with coach Filipe Luís. Santos' director of football, Alexandre Mattos, contacted José Boto , an executive at the Rio de Janeiro club, to try to facilitate the negotiation.

Santos' proposal includes a loan, but the deal is considered complicated, especially due to competition from Famalicão, a Portuguese club. According to information released by Rádio Itatiaia, the Vasco da Gama club reached an agreement with Crystal Palace in England to loan the player until June 2026.
