However, another case that has intrigued the Rubro Negros is São Paulo's possible interest in Everton Ribeiro, as the midfielder has a link with Mais Querido until the end of this season. Despite already taking the renewal with Flamengo for granted, the player has still received surveys.
The player's quality greatly pleases coach Dorival Júnior, current commander of São Paulo. In an interview with TNT Sports, the coach responded about the possibility of having Everton in the São Paulo team. He also admitted that he has great charm for the midfielder but said that it is very difficult to get him signed.
“I don't need to talk about the qualities, capacity and the love I have for the athlete. I never hid it. I had the opportunity to be with Everton (Ribeiro) on two occasions, and in both moments, he always gave me a positive response. However, he is a player in whom I have a lot of confidence. Dorival also commented that Tite's arrival at Flamengo could further enhance this difficulty in hiring from Everton. This is because Mais Querido's new commander took the player to the 2022 World Cup. Since Tite called up the midfielder constantly, he would hardly accept losing the number 7 for 2024.
"Tite took him a few months ago for the World Cup, you know him very well, you know his potential and his qualities, and he is there within your club. However, I don't believe they will leave Everton Ribeiro available to the market. Gerson established himself as one of Flamengo's main leaders in the 2024 season, being awarded the captain's armband. In the confrontation against Peñarol (URU), last Thursday (19), the midfielder achieved an impressive milestone: 40 consecutive games in the season.
This sequence includes both games for Flamengo and Brazilian team, as Gerson was called up by Dorival Júnior for the matches of the seventh and eighth rounds of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, in which he actively participated.

The Brazilian team suffered a severe blow this week. Striker Pedro, from Flamengo, was diagnosed with a rupture in the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee, during preparatory training for the match against Ecuador, in Curitiba. The serious injury took the player out of action for the remainder of the 2024 season, impacting both Flamengo and the national team.
In an interview with Sportv this Thursday (05), Dorival Júnior, coach of the Brazilian team, expressed his sadness with Pedro's situation. The coach highlighted the moment the injury occurred, during an isolated play, where the attacker caught his foot on the pitch. According to Dorival, it was possible to understand the severity of the injury by the athlete's scream of pain.
“I deeply regret everything that happened. We reviewed the images several times and, on the first play of training, Pedro injured himself. He was absolutely in the game, his foot locked and made a movement like a ‘whip’. I was close and realized the severity of the scream”, reported the coach.
Dorival Júnior also highlighted Pedro's effort to be present at the call, considering the joint work carried out between the medical department of Flamengoand the Brazilian national team. The coach also mentioned that, in the past, the striker had already missed a call-up due to an injury, and that the national team door will remain open for him in the future.
“It's a sad scene that repeats itself. Some time ago, Pedro had already been called up and an injury prevented him from participating. I have a lot of affection for him, and there will be no shortage of opportunities in the national team because of the person he is”, added Dorival Júnior in an interview with ge.
With Pedro's absence, Flamengo sees another of its players withdraw due to injury, joining other athletes in the club's medical department. The top scorer, who had been a key player this season, will have a long road of recovery ahead of him.
