On Sunday night (31), star Neymar announced when he will return to brazilian football. The player was present at Vila Belmiro to watch the match between Santos x Palmeiras and spoke with the directors of the São Paulo team about his return to Brazil.

According to information from UOL Esporte, Neymar stated that he will return to Brazilian football in 2025. The news was given by the player himself in a quick conversation with Santos players and managers in the dressing room. UOL also confirmed the striker's promise with a member of Peixe's board of directors.

NEYMAR'S PASS TO SANTOS, EUROPEAN FOOTBALL AND ARAB FOOTBALL

The striker He was revealed in Santos' youth categories and quickly became a fan idol by being the team's star and winning a Libertadores, a Copa do Brasil and a Recopa. With his success, he was quickly sold to Barcelona (ESP). Soon after, he went to Paris Saint Germain (FRA). Now, Neymar is at Al-Hilal, a team in the Saudi league, where he has a contract until June 2025.

With the little time he has left in Arab football, Neymar will try to make his signing worthwhile, now that he played for Al-Hilal for a short time and had a serious injury, which he is still recovering from.

AND WHAT IS FLAMENGO LIKE?

With the possible return to Brazil, the Flamengo is now turning on the alert so it can get ahead in signing the striker. This is because the star has already made it clear that he is a fan of Mais Querido. Thus, his priority will be Santos and Rubro-Negro.

However, one factor that could leave Flamengo at an advantage is financial. Because Santos will compete in Série B in 2024, and if they are unable to return to the Brasileirão elite, they will continue with a reduced budget.

Several Uruguayan newspapers covered the tie between Flamengo and Vasco this Sunday (15). Among the main vehicles, “El País” and “Montevidéu Portal” highlighted that Luiz Araújo left the classic with a possible knee injury and could be absent for Rubro-Negro in the first game of the Libertadores quarter-finals against Peñarol, next Thursday (19).

Luiz Araújo played just 18 minutes in the classic. The attacker felt his knee after a challenge with a Vasco defender and even tried to continue on the field, but ended up being replaced by Arrascaeta. At half-time, Flamengo issued a statement informing that the player will be re-evaluated by the medical department at Ninho do Urubu. The squad will be presented again this Monday afternoon (16).

Uruguayan newspapers consider the possible absence of Luiz Araújo a big problem for Mengão. The athlete is a starter in Tite's team, with the most matches for Flamengo this season (50) and leader in assists (10).

The newspaper 'El País' classified the player as a key player for the team: “The injury to Luiz Araújo, one of the most important players in Mengão's squad, expands the list of injured players just a few days before the clash against Peñarol in the Copa Libertadores.”

The 'Montevideo Portal' followed the same line, highlighting the importance of the striker: “In addition to the result, another bad news for Peñarol's next rival in the Copa Libertadores it was the departure of Luiz Araújo. The fast right-winger, starter for Flamengo, felt pain in his right knee after a blow.”

Currently, Flamengo's medical department has five injured players: De La Cruz, Michael, Cebolinha, Viña and Pedro, with the trio formed by Cebolinha, Viña and Pedro only expected to return in 2025.

Expectations for De La Cruz in the game against Peñarol

While awaiting Luiz Araújo's diagnosis, coach Tite revealed, after the draw against Vasco, that he hopes to count on De La Cruz for the duel against Peñarol . According to the coach, the Uruguayan's presence could improve the effectiveness of the team, which has shown good performance in recent matches.

“In training, when he (De la Cruz) was leaving, I asked 'is there enough for 20? minutes?'. He smiled, because he couldn't. The physical department definitely said they were not in a position to do so. Not even him feeling well. Especially because you have to talk to the athlete, because then there is the charge. Hopefully, and I hope that he can be there on Thursday to reproduce today's performance, with greater effectiveness”, said Tite in the post-game press conference between Flamengo x Vasco.

The Flamengo continues to show its strength on the field when it faces Vasco, one of its biggest rivals in Rio football. In the last ten games between the two teams, Rubro-Negro has been impressively dominant, with eight wins, one draw and just one defeat. This retrospective reflects the most favorable phase of Flamengo, which has been standing out on the national and international scene in recent years.

While Flamengo accumulated important achievements, such as national and international titles, Vasco went through a phase of ups and downs, including drops to Series B, which may help explain the imbalance in the recent results of the classics. In the Rio classics, the rivalry between Flamengo and Vasco is one of the most intense in Brazilian football, and Flamengo's recent performance further solidifies its hegemony, at least with regard to direct confrontations with Cruzmaltino. Even with Vasco's tradition and rich history in football, the current numbers show Flamengo's clear superiority.

FLAMENGO HAS ITS MAIN POINT IN THE LIBERTADORES

< Flamengo is going through a prominent phase both in Brazilian football and in international competitions. The red-black club, which recently won the Libertadores and the Brazilian Championship, is going through one of its best phases in history. With a star-studded squad, full of national team players and led by renowned coaches, Flamengo has managed to maintain regularity and a high level of performance.

In addition to the achievements on the field , the club has invested in solid financial management and a high-level structure, which also contributes to maintaining good results. These factors are directly reflected in the classics against Vasco, where Flamengo comes in as favorites, something that wasn't always like this.
