Last Sunday night (10), Augusto Melo, new president of Corinthians, participated in the program Apito Final, on Band, in which he opened up about the situation at the São Paulo club with Gabriel Barbosa. In recent days, many rumors have been circulating regarding the star's arrival to reinforce Timão, so the manager had a lot to talk about.

“He (Gabigol) looks like Corinthians, he needs to breathe new air. Who knows, Corinthians might not be a good fit for him... Gabigol's strong personality attracts me”, declared Augusto Melo, in an interview.

Meanwhile, Gabriel must continue his negotiations with Mais Querido, who has already pointed out that he wants to renew with him, before his contract comes to an end, in December 2024. Negotiations have not yet been concluded, but everything indicates that the idol should remain in the team until completing 10 years with the Sacred Mantle, regardless of his bad result this year.

For Flamengo, Gabigol played 58 games this season, scoring just 20 goals and providing four assists. His former place as Rubro-Negro's top scorer was taken by Pedro that season. However, with the arrival of Tite, the 27-year-old center forward lost space in the squad, breaking his individual record for most matches without starting.

Tite, however, made it clear that he was counting on Gabigol in 2024, and left him on the bench so he could recover from a problem with his right adductor muscle tendon. The trend at Flamengo is still for permanence and new opportunities in the first semester to cement renewal.

Defender Pablo Marí, formerly of Flamengo and currently with Fiorentina (ITA), has no plans to return to Brazil at this time. According to Italian journalist Nicolò Schira, Atlético-MG has expressed interest in signing the defender, but has been stymied by the player's lack of interest in negotiating a departure.

In addition to the Minas Gerais club, Botafogo also expressed interest in the current window, but the situation is considered unviable. The Spanish player has a contract with the Italian team until 2027 and wants to fulfill his contract, remaining in European football.

DEFENDER IS A STARTER AT FIORENTINA

Pablo Marí arrived at Fiorentina last season after a stint at Monza (ITA). Since then, he has appeared in 13 official matches, without scoring or providing any assists . The defender also appeared in two preseason friendlies against Leicester and Manchester United, solidifying his place in the squad.

VICTORIOUS PASSAGE THROUGH FLAMENGO

The Spaniard built a notable relationship in Brazilian football during his time with Mengão in 2019. Signed from Manchester City, Pablo Marí played a key role in the team that won the Libertadores and the Brazilian Championship . He played 30 games, scoring three goals and providing one assist before moving to Europe.

Flamengo and Vitória face each other this Monday (25), at 9 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, in a duel valid for the 21st round of the Brazilian Championship. The match will be broadcast by Sportv and Premiere , guaranteeing wide coverage for fans.

A large crowd is expected at the stadium. Buoyed by the team's strong form and their U-20 World Cup victory last Saturday, the red-and-blacks are promising to pack the stands. As of Monday morning, approximately 40,000 tickets had already been sold , with over 50,000 expected to attend.

FLAMENGO IN THE LEAD

Flamengo comes into the match with high morale after eliminating Internacional and advancing to the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores. In the Brasileirão, the team has 43 points and is in first place , two ahead of Cruzeiro, who won last Saturday and has 41 points.

For the match against Vitória, Filipe Luís will be without Erick Pulgar , who is still recovering from surgery on his right foot. This is the only confirmed absence for the Rio de Janeiro team, which is expected to maintain its starting lineup in search of another victory in front of its home crowd.

VITÓRIA HASN'T WINNED IN FIVE MATCHES

Their opponent is going through a difficult season. Under Fábio Carille's management, Vitória hasn't won in five matches and sits in the relegation zone after drawing at home to Juventude, despite opening up a two-goal lead. The Bahian team is desperately seeking a comeback to escape the bottom of the table.

Brazilian midfielder Gerson is facing a difficult time in his career in Russia. Last Saturday (23), he only played for seven minutes during his team's rout , reinforcing the scenario of little use. Adapting to his new club has not been easy for the player, who is experiencing a phase far from the protagonism he once had in Brazilian football.

Recently, the athlete expressed his desire to return to play for Mais Querido after his contract abroad ends. However, despite this intention, a return doesn't appear to be a priority for the club's board.

FLAMENGO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

According to journalist Fabrício Lopes, from the Resenha Rubro-Negra channel and the O Dia website, Flamengo has no intention of reopening negotiations to sign the Joker again . The reason, according to the investigation, goes beyond sporting considerations.

The player's relationship with Flamengo has become strained, mainly due to the way the talks were conducted by his father and agent, Marcão. Internal sources indicate that the board remains dismissive of any possibility of a rapprochement, a result of a history of negotiations deemed exhausting.

GERSON CAN WEAR ANOTHER SHIRT

Given this scenario, it's likely that when Gerson decides to return to Brazilian football, he'll play for a team other than Flamengo . However, this move isn't expected to happen anytime soon, as the player has a current contract in Russia and there are no signs of an early termination.
