The night of May 1, 2025 will be unforgettable for Joshua . At 17 years old, the young attacking midfielder revealed by Flamengo scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Botafogo-PB , in the Copa do Brasil , in his first match with the professional team. The performance was crowned with a special thanks to coach Filipe Luís , responsible for launching him.
I have a lot of affection for him...
“I have a lot of affection for him (Filipe Luís), because he was my coach in the under-17s. He knows me very well. So, he gave me this opportunity and I was happy . I took advantage of it very well”, Joshua declared to Amazon Prime, still on the pitch at Castelão, in São Luís.
Number 10 of the under-17 team that won the Copa Rio last year, the boy showed personality and made the most of his time on the field, in addition to scoring the decisive goal in the match at the Castelão Stadium, in São Luís-MA.
Joshua came on in the second half and decided the game in the 39th minute . After a cross from Ayrton Lucas , Juninho headed the ball, the opposing goalkeeper saved it, and the youngster simply pushed it into the net. Moved, the boy could not contain his gratitude.

“I just have to glorify and exalt the name of my God for everything. For Him blessing me, for Him giving me this opportunity. I want to thank Filipe (Luís), all my teammates from the youth team, who I played with, who helped me get here. I just have to glorify God , thank my father , my mother and my sisters who are watching from home . I am very happy, a unique moment in my life. It is inexplicable! I can only thank God,” he celebrated.
In a calm tone, Joshua also spoke about the reception in the main squad and the emotional impact of the moment, ensuring that, even with everything he experienced on the field, he will be able to contain his emotions and sleep peacefully.
“Everyone was exceptional here, they welcomed me very well , so it was a moment of gratitude there, I just thank God. I am very calm, I always waited for this moment. I was ready and, thank God, I was happy there . I will sleep peacefully tonight ”, he concluded.
This was the fifth time Joshua was selected for a match for the main team, but the first time he entered the field. The expectation now is for more minutes with the red-and-black shirt. Next Sunday (05), Flamengo faces Cruzeiro, for the Brazilian Championship, at 6:30 pm, at Mineirão.

This Wednesday (6), Atlético-MG and Flamengo take to the field for the second leg of the round of 16 of the 2025 Copa do Brasil, at 7 pm (Brasília time), at Arena MRV, in Belo Horizonte. The match will be broadcast live on Sportv and Premiere.
In the first leg, played at Maracanã, the Minas Gerais team won 1-0 and now needs only a draw to secure a place in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Rubro-Negro, led by Filipe Luís , needs a simple one-goal victory to take the final to penalties. If they win by two or more goals, they advance directly to the next round.
The red-and-black team will have significant absences for the match. Bruno Henrique and Luiz Araújo were left out of the squad due to workload management, due to the high number of games accumulated this season.
With that, coach Filipe Luís will need to find solutions to maintain the team's offensive play and seek victory away from home . The Mais Querido hasn't won in two consecutive games (Atlético-MG and Ceará).
On the other hand, Atlético-MG is enjoying a good run of form under Cuca . After winning their first match against Flamengo , the team returned to the field last weekend and defeated Red Bull Bragantino 2-1 in a Brazilian Championship match.

On Tuesday night (5), midfielder Reinier, 23 , landed at Confins International Airport, in Minas Gerais, to undergo medical examinations and sign a contract with Atlético-MG. The contract will last four and a half years , and the player is just waiting for the regularization to be available to the technical committee.
"I was trying to find my happiness. I'd been on loan for five years. I wasn't happy. Bracks was chasing me, and so was Victor, valuing me. I talked to Cuca. I'm very happy with the project and I think it's going to be a great success," he declared.
Negotiations between Atlético-MG and Real Madrid were concluded in recent days. The Minas Gerais club acquired 50% of the player's economic rights, while the other 50% remains with the Spanish club. Reinier had been under contract with Real since January 2020, when he was sold by Flamengo for €30 million (approximately R$136 million at the time).
Despite the high expectations surrounding his arrival in Europe, the midfielder never played any official matches for Real Madrid's first team. In recent years, he has had spells at clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, Girona, and Frosinone, all on loan.
A Flamengo product, Reinier was nurtured by the Rio de Janeiro club, where he stood out in the 2019 squad that won the Libertadores and Brasileirão titles . His multi-million dollar move to European football generated high expectations, but his time away from home has not been as consistent as expected.
Galo has the advantage after winning the first leg, while Mais Querido needs to overcome absences and win away from home to advance.
