With the confirmed injury of Luiz Araújo, this Monday (16), Flamengo will play the next matches of the Brasileirão, the quarterfinals of the Libertadores and the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil without their starting attack. Everton Cebolinha, Pedro and Luiz Araújo formed the attacking trio of Tite's team. However, injuries to Shirts 11, 9 and 7 dismantled Rubro-Negro's attack.

It is true that Flamengo's squad is full of good options. However, even replacement parts are suffering from injuries. Michael was injured in his second match after returning to Mengão. Expected return is in October. Bruno Henrique suffered some injuries during the season, but is continuing as Pedro's replacement.

Gabigol recently recovered from injury and still seems to be lacking match rhythm, playing just a few minutes against Bahia and Vasco. Carlinhos seems to feel the pressure of playing for a club of Flamengo's magnitude and has not performed well. And Gonzalo Plata just debuted. Although he played well last Sunday, he still needs more time to be evaluated.

Flamengo didn't lose when Everton Cebolinha, Pedro and Luiz Araújo started playing

< Flamengo's performance, when Tite selected the trio formed by Everton Cebolinha, Pedro and Luiz Araújo, to start the match, is almost 100%. There were 12 matches with the three starting as starters in the red and black attack. They won 11 and drew one, 0-0 against Fluminense, in the Carioca semi-final.

The last match in which the trio started among the 11 starters was in the 2-0 victory against Atlético-GO , on July 28.

Gabigol is now out of the relationship due to fibrosis in the posterior muscle of his right thigh. Flamengo, in a statement, reported that the athlete did not suffer any injury in the region. Check it out:

"The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Gabriel Barbosa underwent tests that did not diagnose an injury to the posterior muscle of his right thigh. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. Flamengo faces the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores da América this Thursday. The opponent will be Peñarol from Uruguay and the match will take place at Maracanã, at 7pm (Brasília time). However, the directors participated in a dinner last night (Wednesday).

Directors from Flamengo and Peñarol met at the traditional dinner on the eve of clashes in the Conmebol Libertadores. Rubro-Negro was represented at the meeting by the vice-president of the Presidency's Office and Member of the Football Council, Diogo Lemos, by the vice-president of External Relations, Gony Arruda, and by the executive director of football, Bruno Spindel.

FLAMENGO WILL HAVE ARRASCAETA AND DE LA CRUZ

In the match against Peñarol, Rubro-Negro will have the return of Arrascaeta in the starting lineup. Fla's number 14 started on the bench against Vasco, but replaced Luiz Araújo, who was injured. Meanwhile, De La Cruz also returns to the starting 11 after recovering from injury. Finally, Gonzalo Plata and Alex Sandro had good performances against Vasco and should be kept for the match.

PEÑAROL ENDS PREPARATION

Just like Flamengo , the Peñarol (URU) squad also finished its preparation this Wednesday (18), focusing on the Libertadores clash. The Uruguayans used Botafogo's CT for the last training session before the game at Maracanã. It is worth noting that Peñarol’s training was “closed doors”. In other words, the press was unable to follow the activities carried out by coach Diego Aguirre.
