After six years with Landim in charge, Flamengo has a new president. This is Luiz Eduardo Baptista, better known as Bap. Participating in Fla's board of directors on several occasions, Bap will have his first opportunity as a great leader, and the football team's main mission has already been mapped out: conquering the Brasileirão, which hasn't happened in four seasons.
With Rodolfo Landim as president since 2019, Flamengo became champion of the Brazilian Championship twice. The first was precisely in the first year of Landim's management. Subsequently, Rubro-Negro remained at the top in 2020. Since then, Fla has not won the Brazilian Championship again.
Since then, Flamengo's best campaign in the competition was in 2021, when it came in second place. However, it is worth highlighting that it was a big difference in points for first place, after all, Atlético-MG scored 84 points, compared to Fla's 71.
Check out Flamengo's latest positions in the Brasileirão< /b>
2024 – 3rd place (70 points)
2023 – 4th place (66 points)
2022 – 5th place (62 points)
2021 – 2nd place (71 points)
BAP defined priority
"We understand that we need sporting goals very clear. Once elected, we will make it very clear that the Brazilian Championship is a priority, that we will seek hegemony in South America, that the Brazilian Cup is just a detail, psychological support, rescuing the scout and using the window in the correct way" i>, said Bap, during a debate promoted by ESPN.
Coincidentally or not, Bap's speech converges with that of coach Filipe Luís. After all, even before the presidential election, Flamengo's coach had already declared the idea of focusing maximum in the competition for running points in 2025.
"As long as I'm here, the Brazilian Championship will always be an absolute priority. I take the Brazilian Championship as the most difficult championship that exists, the championship is where it is the regularity, where it goes through countless moments, FIFA Date, travel. It's the most difficult championship to win and it's one of the ones I had the most pleasure in winning as a player", declared Filipe, still in November 2024. < /p>
Competitions in 2025
Despite having the Brasileirão as its main goal, Bap knows the responsibility and the tight schedule that Flamengo will have in 2025. This is because, in addition to Carioca, Copa do Brasil and Libertadores, Rubro-Negro also won a place in two other tournaments: the Supercopa do Brasil, decided in a single game, against Botafogo; and the Club World Cup, which will feature a new format and 32 teams involved in the dispute.
The new agreement will bring the Rio de Janeiro club R$268 million per year and positions the team among the biggest contracts in world football with the betting house.

Flamengo's Deliberative Council approved, this Tuesday (19), the master sponsorship contract with Betano , one of the global leaders in sports betting. The link will begin on August 20, 2025 and will remain valid until December 31, 2028 , guaranteeing the club R$268 million per season. The agreement is considered the largest ever signed in national football.
The partnership includes brand exposure on the uniforms of the professional team and also on Olympic sports such as volleyball, basketball, and women's soccer. Additionally, the company will be featured on Flamengo TV content, expanding commercial integration and global visibility. The board emphasizes that the agreement is not limited to financial support, but opens doors to new business opportunities.
With values comparable to those of European football giants, the contract brings Flamengo closer to clubs like Real Madrid, PSG, and Barcelona. For comparison, Flamengo's partnership surpasses sponsorships from clubs like Ajax, whose partnership with Ziggo generates only €8 million (approximately R$51 million) per year. This amount places the Brazilian team in 10th place in the world rankings for largest sponsorship deals.
This Wednesday (20), at 8:30 am, president Luiz Eduardo Baptista , known as Bap, will be live on Flamengo TV alongside Guilherme Augusto Figueiredo, General Director of Betano Brasil. The conversation will be led by João Guilherme and will cover the details of the negotiation considered historic.

Striker Juninho traveled with the Flamengo squad to Porto Alegre, where the team faces Internacional this Wednesday (20) , for the decisive clash of the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. However, the player's use is not yet confirmed . Out of the last match against Colorado for the Brazilian Championship, the center forward lost space in recent weeks and was not related in three consecutive games, including the first leg duel at Maracanã.
Internally, the club's board is evaluating the athlete's future, as he has received inquiries from Saudi Arabian football clubs, with loan proposals rejected by the club. Previously, Juninho was close to a move to Sevilla earlier this year.
Negotiations, however, were halted after coach Filipe Luís intervened, contacting the striker to convince him to join Mengão's project. The investment was substantial: R$37.2 million to acquire the number 23, who currently has no place on the team.
In 2025, Juninho played 22 matches for Flamengo , scoring just three goals and providing no assists. He played 726 minutes that season, almost always sporadically used by Filipe Luís. In the Carioca Championship, he appeared in eight matches and scored two goals.
He has already played six times in the Brasileirão, without finding the net. In the Libertadores, he played four games and scored one goal , while in the national cups and the Club World Cup, he failed to stand out.
Colorado will have important reinforcements such as Alan Patrick and Carbonero to face Flamengo in a decisive duel at Beira-Rio
